It’s a toss up right now where politics in this country are more wild. It’s either Pennsylvania or Georgia and on any given day you can make a great argument for why it’s one or the other.
Today it is unquestionably Georgia. This is the last weekend before the primary and all the candidates and their acolytes are out in force.
Kandiss Taylor, thank God, and I mean no irony here, she who would blow up the wall between church and state just as soon as she blows up those pesky granite tablets, the Georgia Guidestones (which will help us acclimate after nuclear holocaust), is trailing in the polls. But make no mistake, a lot of the nutso rhetoric she espouses is in the minds of the other Republicans.

Let me leave you with this Mike Lindell take off. This entire day in Georgia is pure farce, we might as well get in the mood.
Luckily the sane Republican, Brian Kemp, will get the nomination barring some radical shift in the political winds. But this is what’s out there.
Sometimes you have to wonder if the old days where candidates were chosen by old Party bosses in the proverbial smoke filled back rooms was a better system than the lunacy we’ve seen bust out where it only takes 10k or so signatures to get on a ballot and maybe win a primary. Seriously. Look at the increasing number of bat-shit crazy wingnuts that have been winning primaries and tell me that maybe the old days might have been better after all. (And for those who don’t know I’m in my mid sixties and from freaking Illinois. SOUTHERN Illinois as in south of I-64 and the Daly machine screwed my part of the state blind and I still can’t help but wonder if it isn’t time for a return to old-school “machine” politics)
We live in a day and age where the bugaboos of a bygone era are looked back upon with nostalgia. As much as I hated Dubya, when Trump came on the scene, I said Dubya was Thomas Jefferson by comparison. I never thought I would be capable of even formulating that thought.
There is no doubt about your topic. When there was a conflict between Democrats and Republicans in the Reagan years, he an Tip O’Neil would go to the back room with a cigar and scotch and COMPROMISE, a thought that neither side today understands.
Kandiss is saying the quiet part out-loud. I was just listening to a priest talk about the people not affiliated with a religion in the US. 97% in 1970 were affiliated with a religion. 1990, 94%. Now it is much less. I believe it is 60%. In the south of course it is much higher. The goal of Eisenhower and Billy Graham was to get most of the US into church. It is the corner stone of fascism. The country was already racist, so it wasn’t hard after WWII to turn us into an almost permanent fascist state. We are not fighting to KEEP fascism out of America, we are fighting to KICK fascism out of America.
Execution by firing squad for treason is not in the Constitution. She’s also wrong about what constitutes treason in the Consitution: it requires the US to be in a (declared) war and the traitor conspires with that warring enemy. It is NOT whatever is going on in Georgia. Republicans are dumb, ignorant and purposefully remain uninformed.
Does it matter if it is in the Constitution? We have a supreme court that doesn’t give two hoots in hell what is in that document. I predict x-tianity will become the national religion in this country and failure to worship in that religion, the way they want it done, will become a capital crime. Can this prediction be reversed? Only if Americans get off of their fat asses and vote-especially young people. Given what I see right now influencing young people, I do not hold out much hope.
