This is something. This is a Georgia pastor’s analysis of how the Republican party is openly insulting the intelligence not only of the people of Georgia but of the black people in particular.
Jamal Bryant is pastor of the New Missionary Baptist Church and he is preaching the gospel against Herschel Walker.
He takes down Walker’s lack of education and his hypocrisy. I can’t wait to see what Walker responds to this. This is a scream.
Stop what you’re doing and watch this complete takedown of @HerschelWalker by pastor @jamalhbryant. #WeDontNeedAWalker pic.twitter.com/TOGnFxliLe

This is the best attack ad I’ve ever seen in my life. I hope that Raphael Warnock’s people pick this up and use it that way.
I say Amen and Hallelujah to this pastor and I’m not being snide. I sincerely rejoice in the man’s words. He’s got Walker nailed.

I played this clip with my mother last night so we could both listen to it. Mom’s jaw dropped at the sheer audacity of the truth and righteous fury being channeled. I felt nothing but both sympathy and overwhelming respect at this totally righteous takedown of GOP pandering. While an attack ad with him would be nice, it was also never the point. This pastor of a megachurch was trying to reach voters the old-school way. He more than succeeded.
A word on his attire: the jersey he was wearing bore the letters of a historically black fraternity. Not only do I suspect that Bryant is a member of said fraternity but it was to hammer home his point about Walker.
Day-um… He’s got Walker’s and the GOP’s number alright. The GOP looked around for a black man who would do whatever they said, but he had to have universal name recognition and be popular. Because of his exploits on the football field for GA’s flagship university, winning the Heisman and leading them to a National Championship decades ago (their only one for what, forty years?) Walker was the face of that team. A homegrown guy who “made good” at the ONLY sport that matters (COLLEGE football) in that part of the country. Football is a religion second only to Christianity down there and for some on the same level. It never mattered to Georgians that once Walker left UGA he never came back home, that he dropped the state that had nurtured him like a bad penny. He was, and sadly remains an icon, even as he carpetbags back to GA to run for the Senate.
That shit will, and IS working with a lot of white GA voters all along the political spectrum. Worse, it has been working worse than it should with black GA voters too. This race shouldn’t even be close, but the GOP chose well.
I agree that even if Warnock doesn’t use this himself, others down there should. “Uncle Tom” used to be a thing with black people and if Walker doesn’t fit the definition someone show me another person who does! One can only hope that enough GA voters can, especially now that their flagship university has just won another National Championship, has new football heroes and is now a legitimate national power and will be for years to come that they can put Walker’s football exploits in perspective. And in the past! And then, as this pastor suggests see him as the “Caricature of a broken black man” he actually is! That’s the line for attack ads.
How about clarence thomas for the premier Uncle Tom?
Some people will do anything, ANYTHING, for that brass ring which can be money, power, notoriety, etc. Color does not matter one whit.
Walker doesn’t get it – he’s still a slave. A wealthy slave so it numbs him to what they’re using him for.
Hey black folks…wanna stop this racist shit???? VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS ON EVERY RACE!!! Why do you think they work so hard to stop you? Don’t allow them to stop you!!!!!!!!!! VOTE!
Pretty sure our righteous reverend is hard proof that the memo has already been gotten.
Yeah I was like I need to move to Georgia so I can go to this church. They party up in there.
Not that I don’t agree with what he said, but what I don’t like is churches weighing in on politics. If this were some MAGA preacher extoling the virtues of the Mango Messiah, you’d all be screaming about it. Let’s be consistent here folks.
