Everybody is on pins and needles wondering who will control the House after the election and that includes Donald Trump. I guess if you’re the only president in history who has ever been impeached twice, that it would be important to you to have some company in the history books. That does make a kind of cockeyed sense. And since Trump is counting on the GOP retaking the House — and they may or may not — and since they’re all crowing about impeaching Joe Biden, Trump is delighted. Rolling Stone:
Specifically, Trump in recent months has repeatedly asked “how many” times Republicans plan to impeach the president if they take control of the House, the sources said. He has also, the sources said, asked about what they would do to impeach certain high-ranking Biden administration officials. Trump’s questions have touched on potential timelines for any potential impeachment inquiries, as well as on how much support impeachment has in the Republican conference.
The former president’s question of “how many” times Republicans aim to impeach Biden may be connected to Trump’s own dubious record: He is the only American president to have been impeached twice, once for attempting to leverage military aid to Ukraine to push the country’s officials to investigate Hunter Biden and a second time for instigating the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
There’s one teensy problem, though: most of the GOPers talking about impeachment are the right-wing crazies. What does GOP leadership say?
Kevin McCarthy, the frontrunner for House Speaker if Republicans retake the House, has privately said that a serious Biden impeachment process would likely be poor politics for the GOP, according to two people familiar with the matter. McCarthy, the people say, has noted that impeaching Biden risks boosting his approval rating. In an October interview with Punchbowl News, McCarthy downplayed the possibility of impeachment but didn’t rule it out.
“When we took the majority, the Clinton impeachment sapped out a lot of momentum that could have gone towards crafting policy instead,” says former congressman Jack Kingston, who has also advised Trump and acted as a surrogate during his presidency. “I don’t think working to impeach a president who is going to be a lame duck this time next week would be a good expenditure of [Republicans’] time.”
Trump himself has inquired about potential political pitfalls of impeachment in his conversations with lawmakers. “The [former] president definitely said Biden deserves it, but he also asked if it would even ‘work’ and if impeachment would be good for [Biden’s] polls,” says one of the sources, recalling a conversation that occurred in the past three months.
That’s the madcap plan. Even Ted Cruz thinks it’s a great idea, further cementing the realization that Ted Cruz has lost whatever mind he may once have had.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in January suggested Biden could be impeached, arguing Democrats has “weaponized” the process against Trump and that the GOP could return the favor. On his podcast, Cruz said Biden had potentially committed impeachable offenses, including with his policies on the U.S.-Mexico border, the Texas Tribune reported. “That is probably the strongest grounds right now for impeachment,” Cruz said, “but there may be others.”
Right, Teddums. And pigs will fly and you will one day occupy the White House. Uh, huh.
What in the hell grounds do they even have to impeach Biden? Strongarming and withholding approved aid to a foreign nation for dirt on an opponent? Inciting a riot and sedition? Lying about the results of an election? Destroying confidence in the voting system, confidence in the FBI, SS, DOJ? What a bunch of hypocritical assholes.
Do they really need “grounds?” Couldn’t they make something up and then gaslight the shyt out of the public, that by the time shyt is fifured out…..they’ll blame President Biden for Purjorie Trailer Green.
Well OF COURSE they will make shit up. Bat-shit crazy stuff! Some of it will get slapped down but the crazies in the KKKonservative caucus will flood the zone with so much shit that merely stupid stuff will seem “reasonable” enough that the rest of the GOP will go along. If only to keep Trump from encouraging the goons out in the country to (literally) start targeting them along with Democrats.
But first they have to retake the House. I’m not confident we are going to hold it. But I’m also not despairing that all is already lost. It’s gonna be a long week I figure before we know one way or the other.

Last time I checked, Revenge was not grouns for impeachment. What the hell are they talking about? I have yet to see a constitutional violation they could possibly use.

They should, but they won’t, PJ. They have no spine so far. Very few of them have one, it seems. I think the most crazy Trump humpers are the ones that are likely compromised. ie they KNOW they took laundered foreign funds into campaign coffers or whatever shit the Russians found in their email (Graham). Sure some of them literally are crazy & some are crazy & profoundly stupid. But I think the best explanation is that they are compromised. Like they know Rohrenbacher was on Putins payroll & they didn’t notify the FBI. If Biden (or someone who really wanted to clean house) wanted to weaponize the FBI that’s be the way to do it. And the rest, the Mitt Romneys..they’re scared of the less stable loons radicalized by Fox News & Tucker Carlson trying to kill them or their family…reinforced further by Paul pelosis attacker. I can’t imagine the irrational rage one must be harboring to be delighted by Paul Pelosis attack.
As for impeaching Biden they’d probably try something ridiculously stupid like impeaching him for the Afghanistan withdrawal which was put in place by Trump. Except their plan would be to say Biden could have ‘ignored’ Trumps plan or some specious crap like that. I think the ‘impeachment’ talk is pre-election ‘talk’ that only the looniest think is real or like Ted Cruz, so desperate to constantly be ‘trending’ is just jumping on to keep his name in the news. (Can you imagine having to live in the same house w/ someone this pathetic?)
