This makes sense on a certain level. Dr. Robert Redfield was a big ass fan of Donald Trump’s, i.e., one of his sycophant fluffers who went along with Trump’s lies and obfuscatons because he couldn’t stand up to him, when he ran the CDC. Now, Redfield’s lending his name to a $9K gadget that will supposedly purify the air 99.999% and kill COVID-19 and reputable scientists are saying forget it, nothing’s that certain. Daily Beast:

Academic indoor air quality experts who criticize certain claims about COVID-killing technology say the industry-funded studies often focus on results of tests run in a space ranging in size from a shoebox to a cabinet that do not reflect the conditions in a large room. Studies backed by the industry rarely make it clear whether the touted “virus-killing” ions or molecules are doing the work, experts say, or if improvements come from a fan or filter on a device.

“There’s no other way to say it—it’s completely unproven whether these devices would work in a real-world setting,” said Timothy Bertram about devices that claim to attack molecules in midair. He is a chemistry professor who studies aerosol particles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Redfield, who led the CDC during the Trump administration’s pandemic response, did not respond to requests for comment before publication. “Proper ventilation has a major role to play in mitigating transmission of COVID-19 and other respiratory pathogens,” Redfield said in a Big Ass Fans news release. “Big Ass Fans is a leader in designing airflow systems and making places where we live, work, and play, safer.”

Big Ass Fans is also paying him some big ass money for his celebrity endorsement. Deborah Birx is lending her name to another air purifying company. I guess it’s more respectable than a gig on Fox News, right? And air purification sounds better than snake oil, right?

  1. Big Ass Fans comments, fly in the face of respectable, detailed lab results … [pun intended]
Fact finders can waste a LOT of time looking for the truth and the builders/sellers should, by the rules of good business practice that requires disclaimers for unknown facts at time of publication, do just that before release to general public …

People of public knowledge of celebrity name/business records should not even be allowed to state untrue facts about any product without the threat of liability, chances are, if they are stupid they will go ahead anyway for the money, [Republicans take note], but, in the reality of the moment, products rated like this COULD prove to be a threat to human life and should be pulled from the public domain until further facts are in deed established …

Big Ass Fans, makes really good stuff, at least until now, hopefully, this all gets ironed out, and they can continue to ruin Trump’s fantastic hair apparent …
