Back to Ukraine again. He has no intention of giving all territory back to Ukraine. He’s going to give part of the country to Russia. There’s no doubt about it. Envoy Witkoff says that’s not what he meant in his press release. Sure, it isn’t. He’s just trying to CYA, and those of us with any sense know this. I’m doubting a whole lot of things with this administration!
Here’s the bit that made me write about this. From NBC News: As Witkoff arrived in Russia, Trump posted on Truth Social: “Russia has to get moving. Too many people ere [sic] DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war — a war that should have never happened, and wouldn’t have happened, if I were president.” Baloney! When this war started, it would have been too late! We *thought* we might know what Russia was doing, moving the military into position on the west of Ukraine, but we didn’t *know* until the attacks started! Tell me how we could have stopped that before it happened. If you know, I would be glad to listen.
Ukraine has made it very clear that they want their *entire* country back. That includes everything Russia has annexed. And another suggestion is a no-go from the very start. They did not want this war, nor did they start it. I’m pretty sure that, come hell or high water, with or without US support, they will finish it. Do not assume they will give in to Russia. They are fighting for *their* country,
Envoy Steve Witkoff says he was misquoted. Uh, huh. “President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine appeared to suggest that the country could be divided like Berlin after World War II, as another of his envoys held long talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.” Gee, that sounds pretty bad to me. And look at how well that worked for Germany. Ha. But then, on Xitter: “I was speaking of a post-ceasefire resiliency force in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty,” he posted on X. “In discussions of partitioning, I was referencing areas or zones of responsibility for an allied force (without U.S. troops). I was NOT referring to a partitioning of Ukraine.” And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you for a good price! Oyyyyyy.
And in a different article, it was noted that Russia would not accept a European peacekeeping force. Ukraine is getting it from all sides now, isn’t it? “ In February, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called it ‘unrealistic’ to expect a return to Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders, when Russia annexed Crimea and backed separatists in the east. Hegseth’s remarks underlined a sharp shift in policy — while President Biden pursued full Ukrainian victory, Trump had emphasized ending the war swiftly. That’s just another reason I can’t stand that guy. He obviously didn’t think about how Ukraine would feel about this. And they won’t accept that BS, either.
Ukraine deserves to have its land back. It deserves an end to this war, which does not give territory to Russia. They didn’t start it. President Zelenskyy and his people have fought long and hard for their country. They’re not going to accept platitudes. But I’m afraid that, with Russia’s attitude, this isn’t going to end. I just hope European support can make up for what the US *used* to give them. By the way, that map up above?? It’s Ukraine 2013.

Susan, I appreciate your concern and your anger but Trumpler can’t give any Ukrainian territory to anyone, Putin included. He doesn’t own it, nor is he president of it. He can make any stupid deal he wants with his handler Vladimir but it won’t mean shit. The Ukrainians won’t surrender and nor will Europe. They’ve given up on America already, they’re just too clever to announce it; instead they’re saying that they’re going to replace the fickle USA as the West’s freedom fighters. Both Trumpler and Putin want Ukraine’s resources, but sorry fellas, the Ukrainians are gonna keep ’em and use them to rebuild their country after the Russkies are gone. Putin’s not going to win his filthy little war, in fact he may not survive it, despite MAGAt America helping him out.
I’ve got a feeling that Russia’s going to learn what it’s like to be on the other side of the “scorched earth” policy (one they pursued so effectively against both Napoleon and Hitler) if things do start really going south for Ukraine.
I can imagine Zelenskyy has already prepared plans to destroy every last bit of Ukraine’s infrastructure and everything that Putin so desperately wants to steal from the country and the people of Ukraine will follow those plans in a heartbeat just to thumb their noses at Putin. They may put themselves in for a world of hurt by those actions but they also know being controlled by Moscow (again) would be little different.
