We know why. We’ve known since it started. And we know it absolutely has not ended. Trump screwed himself with the Forever War: Iran edition. One of his promises broken means that midterms are going to be a lot more interesting than any of us think they will be.
Trump should not have gotten into that war. It was the last straw, the biggest promise, the one that he needed to keep, and disenchanted voters are in big numbers now. They no longer follow along with Trump like sheep. Sure, the hard core of his base will remain. But it’s not just MAGA voters who are unhappy. There are a lot of us who are angry, too. No one knows how people will vote. That’s a problem.
No one knows how candidates are doing at most town halls and rallies. There are a few exceptions, such as JD Vance’s flop trying to rouse up MAGA voters. It didn’t work, badly so. A picture shows a small crowd, edging towards a sparse crowd. Ouch. That shows, front and center, how people feel about broken promises and the Iran War. What has been wasted in the Iran War is ridiculous. Bluntly, we need it over here. Too late now. It’s burning that money every day. We won’t get into the wear and tear on the ships, or, really, on the people.
Voters are pissed about the cost of living, too. It’s all going up, up and away, on a beautiful balloon. Okay, not a beautiful balloon. Those are long gone. We’ve got the ugly ones living with us as we try to stretch our pennies until they scream. What can or has to be paid this week? Could we put off something until next week? It’s a balancing act, and it’s damn heavy to hold when walking on the razor’s edge.
How about some comments from Vice President JD Vance’s former adviser Sohrab Ahmari, via, with gratitude, from Raw Story?
“Well, it was nice while it lasted,” Ahmari wrote for UnHerd. “Beginning in 2016, Donald Trump won over large shares of working- and lower-middle-class Americans to the GOP” — and that ultimately blossomed into a coalition that won the 2024 election as well. “But now a re-realignment may be afoot.” Trump’s team, said Ahmari, was warned not to go into Iran, and warned that it would be seen by many of his voters as rank betrayal, since it’s exactly what he ran against, with even figures like Stephen Miller attacking former Vice President Kamala Harris for “leaning all in on starting many new bloody wars in the Middle East.”
BOOM. Trump and his ‘people’ are trying to blame everyone and anyone for what *they* did. Ms. Harris has been out of office for nearly 2 years. It’s surprising that they haven’t tried to blame former President Biden for this, but everyone knows better. Biden wasn’t in a war like this. He was being (annoyingly) cautious about helping Ukraine when Russia invaded. But he certainly did not get us into a war. That’s all Trump, no matter how they try to spin it.
The bright ideas of “Iran must not get this or that” flopped ‘bigly’. And now we’re into Iran saying the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until Trump and Netanyahu are out of power. That’s going to be a while. And a lot of problems have already arisen with nothing moving. The money is going down the drain. The jobs are going down the drain. Repairs needed for cargo ships to transit products to the world are getting higher and higher (see: the USS Lincoln, forgive the abbreviation), as Denis has told us. It’s affecting everything in the world. Good job, guy.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Plausible to think that you know who’s “… Forever War: Iran edition …” is both torturing him and turning him into a self-inflicted casualty of his own making, while his administration plus cult adorers effectively become collateral damage. All conceived, planned and executed under the leadership of this stable genius.
