Stalwart Democrats trudged through six inches of snow to return former Congressman Tom Suozzi to Washington. His resignation in 2022 likely paved the way for compulsive fibber George Santos(R) to win his seat by 10 points in the off year election. But Suozzi reclaimed his position, winning by eight points (54%-46%) over (R)Mazi Philip, a result that The Bothsider Times did their best to explain away:

“In the end, it was a triumph for the Democrats. Tom Suozzi, a former Democratic representative, defeated the Republican Mazi Pilip by just under eight points (54 percent to 46 percent) as of this writing.

The result is significant in one sense: It puts Democrats one seat closer to retaking the House, and that’s no small matter when Republicans entered the night clinging to a thin majority.

But significant does not necessarily mean informative — at least not when it comes to the big questions about the general election.

Special elections are special — it’s in the name! They’re distinctive low-turnout affairs that draw from an unusual group of engaged voters. Over the last three decades, there has been essentially zero relationship between presidential results and special election outcomes, based on data collected by Daily Kos. And this particular election had many idiosyncrasies.

Not your ordinary special election. As we’ve written recently, it’s hard to glean much from special elections. They aren’t remotely representative of the general electorate. Only the most highly engaged partisan voters participate. And over the last few years, more of those voters have been Democrats — powering a big Democratic advantage.”

At least one Republican seemed not to be too upset to watch as his party’ precarious control of the House was diminished by one vote – the mouth that roared lashed out at Republican Mazi Pilip, who failed to endorse him in the Republican primaries although she has made it clear he will have her vote in November:

Raw Story

“Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump openly trashed defeated Republican candidate Mazi Pilip, who lost despite centering her campaign on Trump’s pet issue of combating illegal immigration.

“Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat?” Trump wrote. “I have an almost 99% Endorsement Success Rate in Primaries, and a very good number in the General Elections, as well, but just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to ‘straddle the fence,’ when she would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America. MAGA, WHICH IS MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, STAYED HOME – AND IT ALWAYS WILL, UNLESS IT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES. I STAYED OUT OF THE RACE, ‘I WANT TO BE LOVED!’ GIVE US A REAL CANDIDATE IN THE DISTRICT FOR NOVEMBER. SUOZZI, I KNOW HIM WELL, CAN BE EASILY BEATEN!”

Heh, he wants to “be loved”. Good luck with that, fatso.

And, unlike the Times, Raw Story informed their readers why Philip was reluctant to endorse the Orangeutan:

“In fact, Trump has regularly cost Republicans winnable races by endorsing candidates with serious electoral liabilities, such as Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, Kari Lake in Arizona, and Herschel Walker in Georgia.”

As much as The Bothsider Times would like to diminish last night’s result, the big win was cause for celebration for followers of Republicans against Trump on Twitter who will take joy in any Democratic victory as long as Der Gropinfuhrer heads the Republican ticket:

November is still a long way off, but I like the way things are trending.

Let’s give Joe a Democratic House this fall and see what he can accomplish!

  1. When I want realistic views of Dem victories that give me more hope for the future, I trust the Hopium Chronicles by Simon Rosenberg. Lawrence O’Donnell also has him on a few times a week. He destroys bothsiderism and doesn’t do horse race/goat rodeo reporting! He does honest analysis and hopeful outlook! 👏

  2. Nobody has ever loved Trump the way he wants to beloved (wholeheartedly, completely obediently, totally submissively,). Not his kids. Not the 2d and 3d wives. The only one who probably did love him.was Ivana, who was reportedly devastated when he served her with divorce papers out of the blue.

Let’s just face it,Donnie Donuts: nobody loves you because you are a horrible person with the manners of a feral alligator, the stench of a stable that hasn’t been cleaned in weeks, and the entitlement of malignant narcissit.
