They’re wholeheartedly in panic mode. Everything looks bad for their chances, from local to state. And they don’t know how to cope with it. The money for help is drying up. That should be a bigger panic. If they’re not spending from now until the midterms are over, a lot of Republicans will be hurting. And a lot of the Republicans will not win their battles.
We can’t be sorry about this, but in a way, we can definitely be worried. Trump is planning something for the midterms. We don’t know what. If there is a blue tsunami, the highest likelihood comes after the votes. It’s either block the count or seize the ballots. This could keep our people from taking their seats. That’s something to be concerned about, since Republican panic right now means Trump still has time to plan something and Trump is vindictive.
But what does the panic tell us? It tells the obvious thing: a lot of Republicans are worried about losing control of Congress. That means they won’t be able to block Democrats, and Democrats can block Republicans, just like they did to us over the first two years. They may not have gotten everything done for Trump, and Congress is out of session until after the midterms. Mike Johnson sent the House home early, probably to avoid Articles of Impeachment being submitted for Hegseth. That man has done so much to the military; it’s going to take forever to fix. We hope it *can* be fixed.
But flipping Congress does not mean getting rid of the idiots in Trump’s “cabinets”. And it does not mean getting rid of Trump, even if we submit Articles of Impeachment for Trump. Republicans are going to try to block us on everything, just as we managed to do on some for them. A blue tsunami does not mean we’ll be golden. We have things that Trump has done that we need to try to fix. The country is in bad shape. Let’s do local instead of the Iran War, although the War Powers of 1973 deserve a look, even if they don’t get very far. It requires a supermajority, which is going to be a battle.
Republican panic is a good thing. It means we have a chance, and we need to hold onto that. They see the writing on the wall. So does Trump, or he wouldn’t be making these difficult trips (for him) to hold rallies in various states. He’s not filling the locations. He used to be able to pack houses and needed overflow preparation. His shine is rubbing off, and people know it.
Here we are with a little bit from MS NOW via and with gratitude to Raw Story:
The host of the MS NOW panel pointed to the Senate Leadership Fund, the main super PAC for Senate Republicans. It has been cutting future ad spending in states including North Carolina and Alaska. Atkins Stohr said the numbers tell a clear story. “They say that the map is changing in a very, very bad way for Republicans, and they are worried about it and they are freaked out about it,” she said. She said Republicans have no answer on the issues voters care about most. They aren’t promising to end the war in Iran, “which is as unpopular as can be,” and they have no clear plan to lower prices or deal with labor shortages hitting farms and businesses.
Yes, the map is changing, and the PAC isn’t spending, so Republicans panic. There’s only the support they get from their fundraising and campaigning. But the bigger money organizations see the writing on the wall, and they aren’t very supportive now. Why waste money when Republicans are going to lose big in the midterms, no matter what Trump does? He’s going to try something. We know that for certain. But it could hurt Republicans as well as Democrats because Trump is erratic. Trump is dragging them down, and Republicans are panicking. Good.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
