Trump Doesn’t Even Bother to Cover Up His Lies Anymore

It seems like forever ago, but just this week there was a vote in the House on a compromise immigration bill, which is known as the “Goodlatte 2” bill. On Wednesday, the bill failed by a large margin of 121 “yes” votes to 301 “no”. Over 100 Republicans voted against the bill.

On Saturday, Trump tweeted that he never pushed House Republicans to support the bill, or its predecessor “Goodlatte 1”:

In case it gets deleted from Twitter–you’ll see why shortly–here is the text of the tweet:

I never pushed the Republicans in the House to vote for the Immigration Bill, either GOODLATTE 1 or 2, because it could never have gotten enough Democrats as long as there is the 60 vote threshold. I released many prior to the vote knowing we need more Republicans to win in Nov.

However, he tweeted this on Wednesday, just prior to the vote, in all-caps, no less:

Again, here is the text:

HOUSE REPUBLICANS SHOULD PASS THE STRONG BUT FAIR IMMIGRATION BILL, KNOWN AS GOODLATTE II, IN THEIR AFTERNOON VOTE TODAY, EVEN THOUGH THE DEMS WON’T LET IT PASS IN THE SENATE. PASSAGE WILL SHOW THAT WE WANT STRONG BORDERS & SECURITY WHILE THE DEMS WANT OPEN BORDERS = CRIME. WIN!

He publically states, on Twitter for all to see, that House Republicans should pass the immigration bill on Wednesday and then claims on Saturday, again on Twitter, that he never told Republicans to support the bill. In the Saturday tweet, he says he “never pushed” Republicans. So what do you call an all-caps tweet hours prior to the vote? A gentle suggestion?

Trump is so used to lying and so incapable of feeling any shame for it, he tweets out a lie and doesn’t even bother to delete the original tweet, the obvious evidence of his lie. The man doesn’t care. He will say anything to protect himself, advance his cause of the day, or just make himself look good.
