And I’m loving it! From Raw Story: CNN’s Harry Enten claimed that the “Hands-Off!” demonstrations that took place in all 50 states over the weekend were a sign that the resistance to President Donald Trump and DOGE’s Elon Musk was alive and well. How about that? It took a while, but it’s here! We just needed to find the right place to start, and by god, it was done! I’ve been hoping for this and very much did *not* find out about it in time. Now, I was late to the party and didn’t find out until too late, but some of Politizoom’s readers gave me all sorts of places to keep checking so I damn well intend not to miss the next one. I firmly believe there *will* be another. The people are speaking!
Organizers told NPR that more than 1,300 rallies took place in what the outlet called “the most widespread” protests of Trump’s second term so far. Kudos to the organizers who did this, and kudos to the people who went. “Obviously, getting exact numbers is a little bit difficult, but we can look at the search interest online,” Enten said Monday. “Weekly Google searches for ‘protests,’ — look at this — up 1,200 percent versus a year ago. And it’s at, or even exceeding, the levels that we saw during the January 2017 protests, which, you remember, were everywhere…I feel like Frankenstein…saying, the monster, ‘It’s alive! It’s alive!” Sure, we weren’t seeing much except for the Tesla protests, which have *kept going*, and people moving away from Teslas really, really fast.
We’re not hiding anymore. The people are tired of this crap and are standing up to say so. Now, I doubt Agent Orange will even notice. Elon is blowing off all that’s happening with Tesla and says people will come back (I doubt it). Congress *might*notice at some point, well, except for Republicans. Remember how ugly the town halls were for Republicans? It got to the point where leadership told them not to have them anymore? Well, a few did, and I was kinda impressed, but there were also town halls done with a cardboard cutout, and they were noticed, too!
I must say I’ve been extremely disappointed by our Democratic leaders. Their town halls were just as bad. With that said, we need them to wake up and take what action they can. We need them to really *listen* to their constituents. I’ve said this before, true, but it’s now *past* time for them to wake up and smell the roses provided by their constituents!
CNN Anchor Kate Bolduan asked, “What are you looking at, in terms of the polling on this, the polling on resistance to President Trump, maybe now versus before?” Enten answered, “One of the best ways we can understand the quote, unquote, ‘resistance,’ is how strongly folks disapprove of the job that Donald Trump is doing as president.” In November 2018, Enten said voters who “strongly disapproved” of Trump sat at 42 percent, and on Monday, that number was at 43 percent.” We’re still in the first 100 days, and he’s going to be in office for four years! This level was last seen in 2018 when Republicans were swept out of office, losing 40 seats to the Democrats! Dare we wish the same will happen again? I think it depends on when Democrats start fundraising and people decide to “go for it” and work to knock Republicans out of their seats. I feel they need to start sooner rather than later so they can keep building up on it til midterms.
So, it’s started. The Resistance is alive, and they (we!) are saying so. We can’t get tRump out of office for 4 years. But we have midterms to make a start on breaking the Republican majorities out of their seats. We can start helping and spreading the word. We can try writing and calling our reps. Let’s lock up the voicemail because there are so many calls that there’s no room left. We can keep going to town halls if or when they have more. It might not be for a while, but we can watch and wait for them. Let’s DO this!

🤬🤬 I was angry, of course, at the news this morning that Trump/Hegseth fired US Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield from her position on the NATO military committee, the only woman on the committee, for being too woke. [Her successor is a male Vice Admiral whose qualifications are virtually identical to Chatfield’s, including once being president of the Naval War College.] Not surprising from these anti-DEI clowns. But, this news comes one day after the cringe meeting with Netanyahu in the Oval Office. I can’t be the only one to notice by the name Shoshana*, she is JEWISH! Can we now have Marco Rubio deport Trump and Hegseth for not just writing college newspaper op-eds, but acting on their anti-Semitism?! 🤬🤬
