The official X account for the Department of Homeland Security posted a video on Monday, showing federal agents canvassing communities in Minnesota looking for more examples of benefits fraud — and they ran into more mockery than they may have expected. “DHS is on the ground in Minneapolis, going DOOR TO DOOR at suspected fraud sites,” said the post. “The American people deserve answers on how their taxpayer money is being used and ARRESTS when abuse is found. Under the leadership of [Secretary Kristi Noem], DHS is working to deliver results.”
What huh?! Door to door? That’s not going to work. If you send DHS to someone’s house, they’re going to be terrified, not at all helpful. In reality, this story is several years old and the Biden administration already investigated and prosecuted the ringleaders of this scheme, but it was thrust back into the national spotlight by a New York Times deep dive at the end of last month, which led to a wave of racially-charged MAGA threats against Somali immigrants.

WHAM. Absolutely correct. It’s all about the publicity. It’s all about looking good on camera. It’s all about throwing the things they do in our faces to impress us, which never works. It’s all about incompetence. And it all leads to the downfall of democracy, because they want to control us. They want us to be obedient, nodding our heads with everything they think proves them right. And it’s all about what we do to fight back, to throw everything in *their* faces. We are not idiots. We know what’s behind the pretty façade. We know what they are trying to do. That’s bad for them. Let’s keep it that way.
