In early versions of this song, “my true love sent to me” the gifts that followed. However, a 20th-century variant has “my true love gave to me”; this wording has become particularly common in North America.
For their gift on the seventh day, the Furkids wanted a creature associated with happiness as that is the gift they are wishing for all their furriends for Catmas.
