(begin rant) Like giving secrets to Russia? Tulsi Gabbard is firing approximately 100 people across the intelligence community for “an egregious violation of trust”. They got a little carried away in an NSA chat room, that being exchanging some sexually explicit posts. She calls it “They were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this kind of really, really horrific behavior”. Horrific? Give me a break. There are many things that could be described as horrific and this is not one of them.
Now, I will concur with the fact that they ought not to be using work equipment for this sort of thing. Everyone knows what pornography is. This was hovering on the very edge of pornography, yes. But it’s not such a major thing that they should be fired and their security clearances revoked. Who and how the hell are they going to replace these people? Are they even going to be able to replace them? Don’t forget Muskrat is hacking up the government left and right. We do NOT need the intelligence divisions cut. We haven’t seen this yet, but….
It’s just so ridiculous that they are firing these people. Put them on probation for a certain amount of time, okay? Put a note in their file, okay. But *firing* them? That’s excessive. Where are they going to work now? They have all this specialty training that’s specifically for the work they do… did. And how much do they know that shouldn’t be out in anything resembling the public eye? Seems to me this was a snap decision and it’s going to make Tulsi look good but this obviously hasn’t been thought through.
So I’m angry on behalf of those people. I’m angry at how much they are going to lose for something that could have been handled in-house. I’m angry because this is trivial compared to so many other things. I’m angry that she just had to make it go public. At least she hasn’t put names out there. She’s protecting them that much. And all the work they had been doing had to stop. *Boom*. If these folks are working on something that needs to be done and then poof, they’re gone, it’s going to take a lot of work to get those things back. They have shown they’re trustworthy to those people they’ve been working with. Now they may have to deal with someone they don’t know and can’t trust, at least not right away. It will be starting at the beginning and having to do things all over again. We hope. That’s just not going to go over well.
This has gotten blown out of proportion so Tulsi can look absolutely excellent. She is showing she’s “on top of things”. How about is she on top of things of all divisions? We don’t know and shouldn’t know, actually. But is she? Tulsi has no experience in handling her position. She has no understanding of covert work. She does not belong there. But tRump wanted her and so she was confirmed. This is just one example of why she shouldn’t have been accepted for the role. There are better things she could be doing with her time. For example, she should introduce herself across the board, possibly even giving her plans for the group. They need to know her and what she intends to do. She needs to know what they are doing in return. I’ll bet she’s so power-drunk that she figures it isn’t necessary. If she says “jump” they should say “How high?”
This is so ridiculous and stupid and excessive and … I could go on but I think it’s time to close. (end rant)

Well, you certainly do live up to your name, Susie. We’ve already got a pResident who sucks up to our foreign adversaries (and if you don’t think what comes out of his mouth isn’t “disgusting and immoral,” well, Bonehead, you have NO room to be calling anything “disgusting and immoral”).
Susan, I gotta disagree with you on this one, but only up to a point. I don’t think people with sensitive jobs across the intelligence services should be surprised to lose their jobs and clearances for what they were sharing on workplace-provided communications systems. They were sharing extremely inappropriate messages about their transgender surgeries, how much easier (or more difficult) it was to pee, how much better sex feels, who is sleeping with whom, and how smoky it is around here now that Pat Robertson is burning in Hell [that last one I do agree with 🤣]!!! This is outrageous, childish, and stupid for people who literally know better! My last job was as the discrimination/diversity/anti-harrassment educator and investigator for a university system and I would have recommended termination for the most egregious examples if, and only if, a due process investigation warranted it. It is on that point, Susan, you and I very much agree. Because of how this story came to light and who reported it and how employee rights get tossed out!
This information was brought to Tulsi Gabbard’s attention through an article by Christopher F. Rufo published in “City Journal,” part of the right-wing Manhattan Institute. I consider Rufo a malign actor. Southern Poverty Law Center has identified Rufo as a “far-right propagandist.” I have no doubt the reason Rufo brought it up is so he could fit this into his worldview…he claims these messages were occurring BECAUSE the DEI initiatives at the intelligence services encouraged people to tell their trans and sexual stories to all of their co-workers. What utter bullshit!! Wanting workplaces that look like the larger population is not an invitation to harrass people who might be exposed to your personal gender-type or sexual proclivities or how you urinate!!
Christopher Rufo, along with several schools, like Hillsdale College, and state governors, most prominently Ron De Santis in Florida, are working to remake education in the U.S. Only private schools, using public money for vouchers, should exist and should only teach traditional Classical Western (i.e
white men) subjects. Rufo drove the lie that “critical race theory,” a real legal theory from graduate and law school levels, could sound scary to parents if they believed The Gays and The Trans and The Blacks and The Browns were “grooming” their kids with it in K-12!! Rufo has ruined education in Florida and loves that attention so much he is ruining it everywhere!!

Soooo I had this reply written, went to look at the Rufo article, and it disappeared. Damn. Anyone you have educated me and I appreciate it! I didn’t have all the information you did. The piece I wrote would have been completely different, or not written at all. Yes, they should have been fired. That’s over-the-top behavior and unworthy of them. I had figured it wasn’t nearly that bad according to the article I used. So very embarrassing. Well, it’s done now and I can’t delete it so hello world I messed up. Oh well.
This Rufo guy, ooooog. I’m sure he loves the attention so he’s just going to keep on with the agitating to see what else he can do. Our country is going backward and doesn’t *need* any help like this. MAGA doesn’t need any help like this!!! Tulsi is a whole other story. We already knew what was going to happen with her since she has access to all this lovely information now. Yea, she didn’t give the people due process. But firings make her look good like she really has her finger on the pulse of everything in the organization. I literally screamed when I found out she had been confirmed.
