Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was confronted by protesters as he was leaving a restaurant in his home state of Kentucky on Saturday. He was met with chants of “vote you out” as he left the Bristol Bar & Grille in Louisville. The protestors followed him as he walked to his car.

One protester asked: “Where are the babies, Mitch?” Other protesters can be heard saying “Abolish ICE” and “No justice, no peace.”

McConnell did not respond.

You can watch the confrontation here:

McConnell didn’t pick the best spot to eat. An “Abolish ICE” rally was taking place downtown just a few miles away, so this protest shouldn’t have been too surprising to him.

Interrupting the meals of President Trump’s cronies has become a trend. It started with Sarah Huckabee Sanders being booted from the Red Hen. Then Kirstjen Nielsen had to abruptly leave her dinner table last month after learning she wasn’t welcome. And just days before he resigned, Scott Pruitt was confronted while eating by a mother holding her child.

Maxine Waters has gone on record encouraging people to harass Trump officials. There was a backlash to her statements from both Democratic and Republican circles, including a threatening tweet from Trump. Waters refused to back down and neither has this group of protesters. This trend doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

Perhaps these administration officials and Republican leaders will start getting the message. More likely, they’ll just start using UberEats.
