Kevin McCarthy is on his way to becoming the anti-Sarah Lee. Nobody doesn’t like Sara Lee and nobody doesn’t hate Kevin McCarthy — or so it would appear. (Except for Elise Stefanik.) We all witnessed the fireworks when McCarthy was caught on an open mic saying he was done with Liz Cheney and then he railroaded her out and ushered Stefanik in, despite the fact that Stefanik’s voting record resembles Ilhan Omar’s more than it does a so-called conservative Republican’s. So the Cheney/Romney old school Republicans do not like Kevin McCarthy. That is a well established fact.
What doesn’t seem to be so well known is that the right-wing lunatic fringe of the GOP, with its triumvirate of poster children, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, don’t like McCarthy either. Here is what Gaetz said when McCarthy was fumbling opposition to the 1/6 Commission.

This same day, Lauren Boebert’s interview, wherein she said that when she was Speaker of the House she would use the House metal detectors for target practice aired. At the time it was thought that she was just blowing smoke about being House Speaker, and she might have been. But Gaetz wanted to validate the rhetoric, reality grounded or not.

And then he and Greene went off to Arizona and soon they’ll be on their way to Georgia, evidently to create interest in a fifth recount of the ballots in Fulton County, you believe it? Fifth? What was it that Einstein said about the definition of insanity? No word at this time if they’re taking UV lights, bamboo detectors or pandas with them.

Maybe she’ll want to off McCarthy as well? I wouldn’t trust any of these three goons as far as I could throw them, if I was McCarthy. It will be interesting to see what happens in 2022. If I had to bet money on it today, I don’t think Boebert is going to get reelected. She’s got some unified opposition against her in Colorado. I don’t think her lunacy is going to fly for a second term.
As for Greene, I don’t know. She’s got the huge war chest, and she is crazier than hell. Maybe she has found the magic Trump formula. I’m not ready to call that shot.
As for Gaetz, I think it highly likely that he might have such legal entanglements — or possibly wind up in a prison cell — that he won’t be back for another two years.
Kevin McCarthy, meantime, is silent as the grave. He’s been asked to comment about Greene’s anti-Semitism and he has not. He also said that he would do nothing to Matt Gaetz unless there was some formal action and an indictment may be coming down soon.
McCarthy has been talking a lot to McConnell, obviously, since they’re both opposing the 1/6 Commission but I wonder if Mitch is telling him how to save his own butt? Or maybe Mitch has decided to focus his own energies on causes that aren’t already lost?
Watch your back on the Capitol steps, Kevin. Julius Caesar was a lot smarter than you and you know what happened to him.
My mother in Colorado assures me how HATED Boebert is. Look for her to voted out for sure. Green, it’s a coin flip, depending on what federal charges she gets hit with in the near future. Gaetz? Screwed, full stop. McCarthy…it’s only a question of who takes him out of his cushy post first.
I don’t know if I told you that I grew up in Colorado. I’ve been to Rifle any number of times. Boebert may have gotten voted in as a novelty act, but i can’t see her holding up with all this crazy press. She has a very solid group of people opposing her. It’s a group, not just some random naysayers. I encountered them on Twitter a few months back and followed them. I don’t think she’s going to last. Greene, I don’t know.
Nobody, and I do mean nobody, seems to like Ted Cruz and he somehow managed to get re-elected.
These people aren’t Ted Cruz.

“Real Military AMERICANS” isn’t what we need. We need people who understand the Constitution and the laws, and don’t want to overthrow the government or gerrymander districts or suppress voters.
I don’t have the energy to write the articles and commentary, but think it’s great that there are people who do. This stuff is all so, so much, but important to keep in the public eye (at least the public who reads these, as I do). It’s less noisy than when the Former Occupant of the WH was around, but still crazy every day. Anyway, keep on keeping on.
It’s still totally nuts. There were people naive enough to think that when Trump got voted out things would revert to pre-Trump normalcy. HA! What I said then and still say now, is that a pickle doesn’t go back to being a cucumber and America, unfortunately, isn’t going back to days of yore.
