Lauren Boebert Says When She’s Speaker of the House She’ll Use the Metal Detectors For Target Practice

Lauren Boebert has less of a chance becoming Speaker of the House than I have of being crowned Miss Teenage America, but a girl can always dream, right?  Boebert, always keeping it classy, made an appearance on the arbiter of taste itself, Newsmax, and this scintillating exchange took place.

Isn’t that a real thigh slapper? We’ve had 194 mass shootings in the United States this year, an average of 10 per week — that’s more than one per day, I feel the need to rub in — but yes, let’s joke about gun safety measures in Washington, D.C. being torn out of the building and used for target practice, hahahahahaha! Oh, my, I just have to wipe my eyes, this is so drole.

You know, Lauren, you blew it, girl. When you were tweeting Nancy Pelosi’s whereabouts the day of the Capitol riot, you should have been texting your followers to tear down the metal detectors then and there, take them outside and put them next to the gallows that had been erected in Mike Pence’s honor, and you could have blown them to smithereens live on television. What were you thinking?

Not for the first time, nor the last, the right-wingers in this country put me in mind of really bad sci fi.

This is the face of the new GOP, crass stupidity masquerading as courageous populism.  Boebert riffs about shooting up government property meant to protect lawmakers, while Marjorie Taylor Greene chases down mass shooting survivors in the streets, trolling them and yelling insults.
