Not sure what to make of this one at all. I get it that the trend in the votes that are coming in has been going in Katie Hobbs’ favor for quite some time.
And I totally get that the more votes that come in like that and the fewer outstanding votes that there are to be counted, period, the more likely it becomes that the race is sewn up. It is, at this point, not a guessing game at all, but simply a question of who’s on top of the math and can figure out the percentages.
But the problem here is this: Kari Lake is a conspiracy theorist and she’s not that in touch with reality. When she sees this communique, you know how she’s going to spin it.

It sounds too final. It sounds like the campaign manager is calling the race. If she had actual statistics, something to the effect of, “at this moment, “x” more ballots remain, and even if they all were in Lake’s favor, it wouldn’t matter,” then she could call the race, on those facts. And most likely the Associated Press or one of the networks would be beating her to it. But without more than what’s up here, Lake will likely use it as an excuse to go bonkers and start screaming election fraud.
Hobbs leads by 26,000 votes but there are still 160,000 votes to be counted statewide. (That’s the best information available at 7:00 p.m. Pacific.) I don’t dispute what the campaign manager has done here, so much as I dispute the way it’s been done. Just put the irrefutable facts up on the board. If it’s obvious that Lake has no path to victory and I hope that’s the case, make that case. Don’t just declare it’s over and done with, because Lake is a hothead and she’s looking for something to explode over.
This may just play right into her hands.

I think Lake is too crazy to simply admit defeat and go away. Giving her any ammunition is not a good idea.
