This is getting ridiculous. What in the hell does this woman think she’s doing? A third grader could do better than she is, and that’s an insult to third graders. Mistake after mistake, and she’s being called out for it. Virginia is not being her friend. It’s just embarrassing. None of us would do this poorly even without the right kind of background. Are you ready for this? From Raw Story:

President Donald Trump’s hand-picked prosecutor for the Eastern District of Virginia, Lindsey Halligan, is facing scrutiny both in and out of court as New York Attorney General Letitia James enters her plea in the housing case against her. Halligan, a close ally of Trump, was appointed after the previous U.S. attorney declined to indict some of the president’s rivals due to insufficient evidence. This week, Halligan found herself in a Signal scandal of her own when she reached out to legal reporter Anna Bower of Lawfare without indicating that their conversation was off the record.

H0 h0 h0. She keeps making blunder after blunder. What was she thinking when she accepted the two cases? She had to know that she has *no* experience in prosecution. But somehow, she got the grand juries to agree and indict AG James (and Comey) on trumped-up charges. One would think she would realize these are high-level cases and the prosecution of Trump’s enemies, and everyone, or damn near everyone, knows it and would be watching. Plus, AG James *really* knows the law. Look at her high-profile prosecution of Trump. It’s like a lamb facing a wolf. There might not be much left when she’s done.

“It was essentially her talking about this case and the strength of the evidence in a way that seemed to at least skirt around the edges of potential grand jury material, which is improper,” said justice and intelligence reporter Ken Dilanian. “It’s against the law for prosecutors to reveal anything that went before a grand jury. Witnesses can talk about it, but prosecutors and lawyers can’t.”

“It also violates ethical rules that all prosecutors should be familiar with,” said former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Roiphe. “If you are speaking about an ongoing investigation or an ongoing prosecution, there is always a danger that your words could prejudice that trial. And if they do, you know, that’s a very, very serious allegation of professional misconduct.”

Another one bites the dust. She needs to ask for help. She needs to refresh her memory on the law and review what is required or prohibited as a prosecutor. It’s almost beyond comedy into “that’s just sad”. Off the record against AG James. High-profile cases. The judge wants *everything* from the grand jury given to Comey. That includes audio records. Strike #1. She was improperly appointed. It isn’t proved yet, but if Tish James brings out the big guns, then Halligan is toast for that one, too. Strike #2. What will be strike 3 and she’s out?

“And I think this goes back to the fact that Lindsey Halligan has no experience in prosecution,” she continued. “One of the odd things in this case that, you know, constitutes a red flag, that she was brought in with a background in insurance law. She never went into the grand jury before this case. And I think her inexperience, you know, it may seem sort of, you know, funny, but it, in fact, is quite dangerous in a case like this.” If the James case were “a righteous” one, Roiphe explained, Halligan’s recklessness could mess it up.

BOOM. Oh yes, she could mess it up. She already has in the Comey case. Again, the judge wants *everything* and that is *very* unusual. AG James has a lot of experience as a prosecutor. Halligan said things that were NOT off the record. Talk about a tightrope over lava and sharks circling in the moat. She had best be careful of how she walks or what she does. If the cases get thrown out, and we can fervently hope they do, Trump and AG Blondi are going to have a fit. What do they expect from someone like Lindsey? She has zero experience in something like this, and two high-profile cases that are politically based. What the hell was she thinking?

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. “What was she thinking when she accepted the two cases?” I’ll tell you what she was thinking: Boss’s orders. You don’t say no to the Boss. Plus, fate has given me the opportunity to do the Boss a solid. This is what the toxic mix of loyalty, stupidity and blind ambition can do, while also telling you just what kind of a person Halligan is.

  2. it’s not just those two cases. she’s the u.s. attorney for the eastern distri tof virgi ia – the boss of that district responsible for overseeing the attorneys, investgations and cases. it’sa big administrative jobwhich is why people in that position don’t typically handle cases themselves.
