Yep, the shock politics are rapidly coming adrift. Pulling Elise Stefanik’s nomination for Ambassador to the United Nations is a sign of it. No matter that yea, she’s keeping her position, but she is no longer the third-ranked member in the House of Representatives. She didn’t get that part back. I kinda feel sorry for her, but she shouldn’t have resigned until she was confirmed for the position. Agent Orange is concerned about a Special Election for her seat when he only has a razor thin majority in the House. We just had a Democrat flip a seat in the Pennsylvania House, in a place that carried tRump for the election. And we have 2 Democrats running in Special Elections for seats in Florida. Their chances are small, but they are making some BIG noise.
From CNN: But the setback for Stefanik was a rare admission by the president that even his trademark brashness and zeal for unchecked power cannot always supersede political logic. And his reversal on Stefanik is a sign of political vulnerability only two months into his already-turbulent second term. He is not immune to political gravity. And he just endured a nightmare week in which several potentially damaging political crises were directly attributable to his approach and strategy.
There are quite a few things he promised where he isn’t doing well. How about predicting he could end the Russia-Ukraine war in a day? We’ve all seen how THAT is going, which is to say, it isn’t. The White House claimed it had forged a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea after talks in Saudi Arabia on Monday. But the deal came with Russian demands for the lifting of banking and agricultural sanctions that Europe wants to maintain. Even Trump, who has been bombastically predicting that his friendship with President Vladimir Putin would bring peace, admitted the Russians might be “dragging their feet.”
Let’s talk about how the economy is doing, that is, tanking. Consumer confidence is at its lowest point in a while. We expect inflation to go up this year, and many of us are already expecting a recession, including me. The signs are there to see, even if our government is refusing to see them. The gloom may reflect the impact of the president’s erratic implementation of tariff policies that are likely to increase prices and Trump’s own lack of focus on the costs of groceries and housing, which helped him win the election. Everything is going up and isn’t coming down. We “told you so” when he was making all these grand commitments because *some* of us knew better, right Pz-ers? But the people who needed to listen didn’t. They believed them. And they’re getting slapped now with everything going up instead of down. They chose the Mango Mandarin in the election. Some of them are already seeing the light of failure. MAGA is pretty dedicated. Will *they* see?
The president will take a further risk with consumer confidence next week with his promised reciprocal dollar-for-dollar tariffs against foreign nations that impose duties on US goods. If this hikes prices, as many experts expect, all eyes will be on whether Trump is willing to stay the political course. I believe it’s going to hike prices, no matter what. All these tariffs are hurting us, not the enormous reward of wealth we were promised. Other countries will soon be looking elsewhere for supplies, if they aren’t already. And they’ll likely just quit working with us, because the tariffs are stupid. Canada and Mexico have had enough. The automobile and parts tariffs hurt us, because our autos were being built in all THREE countries. Then add in the tariffs on aluminum and steel. That’s going to have an effect soon, if it hasn’t already. Tariffs like Agent Orange are using are just ridiculous. WE pay the higher prices for imports. It WILL get passed along to us.
And as Denis has said, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. More will come. I’m almost positive about it. But it WON’T be positive. Everything so far has gone completely in the *opposite* direction. I expect it will continue to do so. Our household is already living paycheck to paycheck. I’m not sure what we should/could do when things get worse. And they will. Thanks for nothing, Orange Sphincter. Thanks for nothing.
*****And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Zoomers, if you can spare a donation, it will keep us trekking through cyberspace from planet to planet and psychotic news story to psychotic news story. We just need a little green energy to keep going on our (now) nine year mission, and who knows how long it will take to get rid of Trump? Thanks. Ursula

“Tariffs like Agent Orange are using are just ridiculous. WE pay the higher prices for imports. It WILL get passed along to us.”
And, of course, Drumpf will blame retailers for all the increased prices that consumers have to pay because Drumpf is “perfect” and never makes mistakes of any kind–especially when it comes to business and economics (because he IS *the* most successful businessman in all of recorded history and an absolute economics genius).
Retailers, unfortunately, can’t behave like Drumpf did in his heyday and just stiff suppliers and contractors and dare them to take him to court. Retailers who don’t pay their bills stop getting new merchandise (and the suppliers keep the unpaid receipts for the inevitable bankruptcy proceedings) and contractors stop showing up to do the work they were hired to do.
I think DonOld thinks the tariffs are a strong-arm tactic, to twist the arms of other countries to submit to his wishes. I seriously doubt they will work that way. If anything, the tariffs have stiffened the resolve of the other leaders. If not the tariffs, tRump’s very own words have alienated a lot of foreign leaders.
“I kinda feel sorry for her … ”
I don’t feel any more sorry for her than I did for Matt Gaetz when he lost the last round of musical chairs.
Sorry for Elise Stefanik?????????
😅🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤣😂
ABSO-F**KING-LUTELY NONE!!!!!!!!!!
Displaying more opportunism than principles, she decided to hitch her wagon to Agent Orange and has just begun to receive her just desserts!
Come 2026, all these GOP Congress-critters kissing their Mango Messiah’s butt out of fear for being primaried are going to learn that by their allowing the Trump/Musk chaos “program” to screw over their constituents will cost them their seats!
NOT ONE IOTA OF SYMPATHY FOR ANY OF THEM! SCREW ‘EM ALL!
We have to hang in there until 2026. A Dem won an election in Lancaster County which hasn’t elected a Dem since the 1880s. Trump.carried it by +15 points. I think people are waking up.
