Elon Is At It Again – Cuts To Department Of Homeland Security Incoming!

Y’know NHS having to make cuts is just plain stupid. The departments are understaffed, but the Muskrat is going to do them anyhow using the same tired reasoning that there’s been all along. What’s bad about this picture? It’s the department of *Homeland Security*, for heaven’s sake! What is WRONG with this “man”?? You would think he’d know better if he just thought about it for a minute. But I guess, just like Agent Orange, he doesn’t think past his own blown-up ideas. Other cuts are already causing major issues (hello Social Security) and this just takes the cake.

Let’s start with the one I’ve ranted about before. FEMA is expected to be decimated. That’s a Really Bad Idea. And I’ll bet their funds are NOT going to the states like tRump is babbling about. The first natural disaster to hit someplace, especially a red state, and they are going to be screaming because they can’t get any help, especially from FEMA. Gaahhhhh. Customs and Border protection (remember a certain president saying he was going to close the southern barrier?) cuts are just going to encourage more people to sneak into the country. Customs Enforcement is also facing cuts. That means, at the very least, slower processing. We already have countries warning their people to stay away. It could very well mean that once this word gets out, we’ll lose more of that business. The wait at the border is already ridiculous.

By the way, “Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is expected to send an email to her department’s personnel in the coming days laying out the expected cuts, with a separate email in the works detailing potential options for employees to include voluntary separations and early retirements. One of the sources made clear that Noem’s name may be on that email – but it is top Trump aide Stephen Miller, DOGE and other White House staff making the key decisions.” I really can’t stand that man. He fits in with tRump very well because he’s such a jerk.

Then, on to another good one. The US Secret Service is expected to have cuts. They are continually understaffed. Anticipated cuts are expected to be in support positions, ie administrative and technical staff and new hires (again). Bad idea, kiddies. This is a particularly challenging time – top officials have cast an unprecedented and dynamic threat environment, including two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump last summer. And with high pressure work like this, the agency is experiencing low morale, burnout, low staffing, and retention issues. So they already have people leaving, and now they are going to have bigger cuts when they need to do the opposite and get people *in*. There is *tremendous* anxiety about what’s going to happen at the USSS. ““The mission is not directly impacted with what is being proposed at this moment – but it will over time. You start creating these intrinsic vulnerabilities in your workforce that could lead to another Butler.” ‘Nuff said.

All the cuts are causing so, so much damage. I don’t know if we’ll be able to recover. Government service that people count on to live. Safety in our country. ICE having QUOTAS ffs. The stock market is crashing here and causing crashes across the *world*. We are definitely heading for a repressive authoritarian government with a president who steps off the gold course to make some major sort of announcement and then goes back to his golf. When the hell is this going to stop?
