Given the stakes, the Republican nomination for 2024, one feels guilty taking some perverse pleasure in watching Trump do the GOP what he’s very much also willing to do to the country: Destroy it if needed to win over control. Now that he is at war with DeSantis, there is that same sinful pleasure – it’s wrong because no matter who wins, we’re in serious trouble – watching them eat their own. For now, it is Trump attacking DeSantis but in due time, DeSantis is going to have to attack back, and given neither is bounded in the quest for power, it will be “entertaining” in the same way coliseums in Rome used to fill up when intentionally starved lions were throw in the ring with several men, barely armed, or not armed at all.
As I said, eating their own. Trump is willing to praise Democratic governor Charlie Crist over Ron DeSantis on the issue of “how well Florida is doing.” Obviously, no one on our side believes that Florida is doing “well.” It may be bringing in more revenue, but as Trump points out, sunshine, beaches, and warm ocean water sure help bring in revenue. I can attest I wouldn’t be living in Alabama if was I not 20 minutes from white sand, 86-degree turquoise water, and sunshine. (The very elite high school is the biggest reason.) So, yes, Florida has some advantages.
But for Trump to come right out and say that Democrat Charlie Crist was succeeding in the governor’s role long before DeSantis? That’s special, that’s delicious, that’s as tasty as a lion would find…

Wow. Strange. I agree with Trump. But we will all agree with Trump and DeSantis when they’re attacking each other but, of course, not believe that it means the other one is better. Watching them eat their own? Great way to get through a Tuesday.

Fun fact: Charlie Crist was sworn in as a REPUBLICAN governor in 2007! He changed to Independent in 2010, and became a Democrat in 2012—-AFTER he left the governor’s mansion.
He was probably still smarter – and better for the state – than DeSantis even when he was a Republican.
