DeSantis has been awfully crafty in picking out culture wars that he is going to win. Don’t say gay started out as just a K-3rd grade thing where one doesn’t say “straight,” either, and Dems reliably stepped on a rake, made it a huge deal, and next thing we know, high schools are entering the picture. Had we ignored it, it would likely have never made any practical difference. We need to fight the battles that are worth our time, like diversity and LGBTQ awareness at the high school and college level, and when asylum seekers are flown under false pretenses off in Martha’s Vineyard (probably illegally) from Texas, no matter how well they were taken care of once they got there.

DeSantis has another one coming.

A scientific study came out that found a statistically significant enough association between gas stoves and kids with asthma. Before anyone even began talking about what might get done about it (Perhaps just more efficient, using less gas stoves), the Republicans were insisting that Democrats were coming for their gas stoves. It would be just like the Democrats to care about childhood asthma.

In a purely “fck-you” move, DeSantis responded by making natural gas stoves tax-free (undoubtedly to make the high-end stoves more affordable and keep electric stoves taxed at the regular rate.)

This is pure spite. It is the single most obvious rejection of and hatred for a simple scientific finding that I’ve seen yet:

I have not heard a single Democrat talk about making laws banning gas stoves. Perhaps there are a few. I never want to say “None,” but it’s sure not a priority. But also note that there isn’t the least bit of concern cited for the link to asthma, none.

I just don’t get it. I really don’t. We have certainly left the enlightenment. Perhaps artificial intelligence ruling the world is our only hope. The robots just have to be nice. Kidding, sort of.

  1. Desantis finds strange hills to die on in his Framework for Freedom™️. I guess if people have a polluting gas stove and want to keep it, that should be their right, just as Our Godly Free Market Founding Fathers®️ intended it.
