We may have the opportunity to see something in our lifetimes that has never happened before, and we hope won’t actually happen today or tomorrow or soon.
What happens when one of the branches ignores the legitimate orders of another branch? tRump has violated a judge’s order to restore federal grant funding. He has not done so. This is a most unusual situation and how does it get handled? There are tools available which may not be effective considering who this is regarding. Add in Muskrat and options become more limited.
They can cite them for contempt of court. They can set fines, which in E-yawn’s place isn’t even a full drop in the bucket. There’s even the possibility of imprisoning someone, which, honestly, isn’t going to happen. We can’t even threaten them, because that falls under the US Marshalls, which falls under the DOJ, and the Mango Mandarin could tell them to say no and that’s it. It’s all empty threats for the Orangutan and even Muskrat. The President and Co-President *might* get cited for contempt of court, but that’s really all that can be done.
If they choose to ignore the rule of law, then the country is in trouble. Trump and Elon will pretty much have free reign on what to do with because there are no guardrails now, and who knows what they could do? All the legitimate court cases? Ignored. Gone. They may very well not even obey the Supreme Court. That’s when our country becomes a dictatorship and we are screwed. I would expect DonOld to start creating some serious chaos just by going after the people on his “enemies” list.
So, will he or won’t he follow the rule of law? Congress may very well collapse. If he’s not following law, then they don’t matter either. He’ll just tell them what to do and they will do it. How about that whole remove the debt ceiling? Lordy, I don’t even want to think what could happen with that. The US is already in trouble with the rest of the world. If we can’t pay our bills? Oof.
And another thing – if he can do what he wants, what’s to stop him from sending armed forces to, say, take over Canada and make it become the 51st state. Of course, we would also be fighting ourselves because they are an ally. And oh mercy, what relationships he could trash. “The US can stand on its own and doesn’t need NATO” and so forth. Uggggghhhhh.
I know this is a little disjointed and I apologize. I keep having different thoughts pop into my head with this and they’re all ugly. I hope this doesn’t happen, but with JD Vance opening his yap, and ignoring a court order, and, and, and … it could.

If the Courts tell the Marshalls to go do some arrests and Trump’s DOJ says “don’t do it”, perhaps the Courts could go hire some Pinkertons (or other), properly Deputize them as Agents of the Courts, and sent them to do some arrests?
