If you have a sense of deja vu which is nagging you like crazy, let me be of assistance. I’m having it, too. What you’re remembering is October 7, 2016, when the Access Hollywood tape dropped and you heard the Republican nominee for president of the United States talking about how he would “grab ’em by the pussy.” Tonight, October 3, 2022, is Republican senate nominee Herschel Walker’s pussygate moment.

The Daily Beast dropped a bombshell at 7:00 p.m. ET, revealing that Herschel Walker, a man who says he doesn’t believe in abortion, even in cases of rape, or incest, even to save the life of the mother, paid for one of his girlfriends to have an abortion back in 2009. She got pregnant, Walker said get rid of it, and she did.

She supported these claims with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a “get well” card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker.

The woman said there was a $125 difference because she “ball-parked” the cost of an abortion after Googling the procedure and added on expenses such as travel and recovery costs.

Additionally, The Daily Beast independently corroborated details of the woman’s claims with a close friend she told at the time and who, according to the woman and the friend, took care of her in the days after the procedure.

The woman said Walker, who was not married at the time, told her it would be more convenient to terminate the pregnancy, saying it was “not the right time” for him to have a child. It was a feeling she shared, but what she didn’t know was that Walker had an out-of-wedlock child with another woman earlier that same year.

Asked if Walker ever expressed regret for the decision, the woman said Walker never had. Asked why she came forward, the woman pointed to Walker’s hardline anti-abortion position.

“I just can’t with the hypocrisy anymore,” she said. “We all deserve better.”

Lady, you just said a mouthful. Walker, of course, went ape$hit when he heard this, declaring that he would sue the Daily Beast on Tuesday morning. I’m sure their legal department will be happy to receive the paperwork, especially in light of what happened next.

Two hours later, Walker’s son, Christian, took to Twitter and melted down. He immediately deleted the tweets but the internet is forever and the tweets were screenshotted.

And then it gets REALLY good.

Wow. I am on the floor.

I’m going to say something I never thought it would be possible for me to say. I respect Christian Walker. He may have deleted the tweets, but at the same time, he had a moment of clarity, as they call it in 12-step programs and he stepped up to the plate. He told the truth. I not only respect the man, I admire him. Feel free to dump on me for saying this. I will understand.

My point is that Christian Walker did the right thing here. And there’s likely to be some real hell to pay, economic sanctions from his father, etc., but he did the right thing. His doing the right thing may have made it possible for the better man, Raphael Warnock, to retain the senate seat which he so richly deserves to do. And nobody is more amazed than me that this has happened. I would have never believed this could happen.

I seriously doubt if Herschel Walker is going to do too much litigation Tuesday morning. But he was all ramped up for it.

“This is a false story,” [Robert] Ingram [Walker’s lawyer] said in a phone call, adding that he based that conclusion on anonymous sources.

“All you want to do is run with stories to target Black conservatives,” he said. “You focus on Black conservatives.”

Ingram asked The Daily Beast to disclose the identity of the woman, but we declined.

After the story published, Walker released a statement in which he called the story a “flat-out lie” and said he denied it in the “strongest possible terms.”

“I’m not taking this anymore. I planning [sic] to sue the Daily Beast for this defamatory lie. It will be filed tomorrow morning,” he said.

You recall over the summer how all of the stories of Walker’s love children came out. He was flat out asked if any child of his had ever been aborted and he flat out lied.

As well you know, the Warnock/Walker race is one of the closest in the country. It’s labeled as a tossup. Maybe not any more.

If Walker had any class, he would drop out of the race. I am not holding my breath. I’ll tell you what I am doing: I am wondering whether, in the horrific eventuality that he would win the senate seat, if the senate could elect to not seat him. The man is clearly bereft of character. He’s been caught in a massive lie and his own son has blown the whistle on him. He may mouth the GOP abortion platitudes but he lives his life according to a different standard altogether.

Don’t get me wrong. I believe Raphael Warnock will won. I believed that before this debacle. But now things are on a different footing. I don’t see any way that Walker could be seated in the United States Senate on these facts. It isn’t just this incident, it is a portfolio of incidents, showing Walker to be mentally unstable and an abject liar. And this is the kind of man who could take a senate seat and make the laws that the yous and mes live under?

Speaking of the senate, has anybody see Mitch McConnell lately? I’ll bet his phone is off the hook. Have a Kentucky bourbon, Mitch. If anybody needs it right now, it’s you. This is all about hypocrisy. Maybe the party should change it’s name to HOP, for Hypocrites Own Party, because that is the moral of this story. The hypocrisy in the GOP is nothing short of staggering.

And I wonder what the evangelical Christians will do when they get wind of this? I have an idea, Herschel. Take this as a sign from God. Step down. Give yourself and everybody else a break. Enough is enough.

  1. “He may mouth the GOP abortion platitudes but he lives his life according to a different standard altogether”. This is the MO of RWNJs all around the world, including in Australia where they believe they are ‘the natural party of government’ (read: dictatorship), and they believe that they have more entitlements – including the right to help themselves to the country’s wealth – precisely because of their anti-democratic beliefs.

  2. Agree. Where this iteration of the GOP is far worse than other versions of it in the past is that the hypocrisy meter is turned up to eleven on a scale of ten. They don’t care. What’s real doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is what they can get away with. Zero moral compass. That was shattered long ago.

  3. Are the christian walker tweets confirmed to be from him? If the “grab em by the 🐱” guy “won” despite all that, herschel is a shoe in.

  4. I’m glad people got screengrabs. I figured Christian Walker would have an “oh shit – what did I just do?” realization and try to stuff the shit back into the Golden Goose that is daddy’s wallet. As I read through your article it’s clear attempts are being made to do just that. It’s countdown time to the Christian Walker “I was hacked” tweet.

In the real, practical world what likely happened is that word of this quickly got to Herschel who called up Christian and said something along the lines of: “Boy – you’d best fix this and right quick or I’m gonna knock the black right off you! And money? You are CUT OFF! Maybe if you can sell a good cover story and get this out of the news we can talk about me supporting your never-worked-for-jack-shit-in-your-life again. Maybe. Right now best get your punk ass to work and clean up the pile of shit you just dumped!”

I seem to recall a certain Tennessee House member getting hit the same way not that long ago. He pressured a mistress to get an abortion in 2000 and his former wife obtained TWO abortions during their marriage. But he vows that he’s staunchly anti-abortion.

    • Those are called politicians. They say what ever will get them elected or reelected. All politicians, especially career politicians should be voted out and businessman or the types should be voted in.

      • You mean like the oil & gas industry that knew about climate warming due to burning fossil fuels back in the 70s & have lied, denied, and funded opposition to their own conclusions. Same with the tobacco executives that have killed millions while the innocent cannabis smokers fill the coffers of the private prison industry. So on and so on. Yeah. Let’s hand it over to them. Fascist don’t want or expect the truth. Are you PROUD of your group?

        • No. Thats why we need to vote them out both parties and find who will work for us. Not control us. I remember Pelosi saying to a reporter about the homeless “we feed them”. You know, us/them, the peasants. Most career politician never had a real job. They actually live in a dream world.

  6. Just a reminder before we all give the election to Senator Warnock: if this is Walker’s “pussy-gate” moment, don’t forget who was elected despite that video depicting just how big a misogynist trump was.

Of course Walker shouldn’t be elected but we’re dealing with southerners who in general are evangs with shit for brains. We should not downplay the stupidity factor.

  7. “southerners who in general are evangs with shit for brains.” Your generalization is not true and heartily resented. I have come to expect better from you, Spike, but I gotta say, Fuck You on that comment.
