Well, it looks like the sniveling, weak kneed brand new Manhattan District is going to give Trump yet another pass. Their grand jury expires tomorrow, and Alvin hasn’t requested an extension or moved to convene a new grand jury. His top two prosecutors resigned in protest, the office has returned documents to their owners, and the task force abandoned their war room today. We’ll see how this goes four years from now in deep blue Manhattan, which happens to hate Trump.
But all is not lost. Because starting on Monday, the Special Grand Jury that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis convened to hear evidence in Trump’s possible RICO voter fraud case will convene to begin hearing witnesses and judging evidence. This is good news, since Willis has been far more aggressive than the new Manhattan DA.
But it comes with a price. After all, even though Biden carried Georgia in 2020, and the Democrats elected 2 Democratic Senators in a special election in 2021, this is still deep in the heart of MAGA land. And it appears that that comes with a price.
District Attorney Willis has already taken steps to protect her prosecutors names from becoming part of the public record, for fear of retaliation. And the Fulton County Sheriff has already decided that this shit is getting just a little too wiggy for his tastes.
He announced earlier this week that when the special grand jury is empaneled on Monday, all crossroad’s leading to the courthouse will be blocked to traffic. The court has suspended all non critical business, and as much critical business as possible has been shifted to nearby satellite courts. The sheriff has warned all citizens without critical business with the court to avoid the area.
Obviously the Fulton County Sheriff got the Capitol riot memo, and has no desire to have a repeat performance on his turf. But how pathetic is it that in the Land of the free, and the home of the brave, a Sheriff has to take steps to turn the county courthouse into a blockaded Green Zone, just in order for a special grand jury to meet and consider a case.
Fulton county should be a clarions’ call. Because, given his head, this is what Trump wants for the entire country. Traitor Tot wants his brownshirts to be an ever omnipresent threat, even to the normal functions of government, such as the convening of a grand jury to hear evidence in a case that involves him. If that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, I don’t know what will.
