So were the flies there in the skies first or how does this work already? You would think that Trump would at least preview text he’s supposed to read but then again you would think a great many basic things about how things in the Oval Office should work and they don’t. At least Trump is awake, let’s look on the positive side of the ledger.
Trump has always had trouble reading scripts. My favorite gaffe of all time was his speech-ending howler, “God bless the United Shrrsshhh!” But his current situation is quite different. He is, as PolitiZoom blogsters and commenters have frequently observed, insane. It’s still fascinating, however, how far the mainstream press will go to keep from acknowledging that simple fact. I’ve just finished reading a New York Times article by Jamelle Bouie (in my opinion one of the Times’s best commentators) titled “Trump’s Fantasy-Reality Problem Is Deepening,” in which the author bends himself backward like a pretzel to avoid using that simple six-letter word. I dared to submit a comment to the article pointing this out. We’ll see if the Times allows my comment to appear on its website, but I’m not holding my breath…

The Times has declined to publish my comment. Can’t say I’m surprised — disappointed, but not surprised…
