Just another milestone, as our culture degenerates and civility is merely a word in the dictionary, and not a descriptor of human behavior. This is something you never saw prior to the mouthy conman from Queens taking to the airwaves and insulting everybody. Donald Trump rolled a rock away from the cave of our collective consciousness. He unleased the monsters of the id, as they called the phenomenon in the movie Forbidden Planet. The things that people want to say but dare not, became the norm when Trump polluted our airwaves. Take a look at where we are today.

I don’t blame Mehdi Hasan at all. He can’t get a straight answer. What makes me sad is where this is taking us culturally. Small children hearing adults yelling at each other on TV are not going to be encouraged to use restraint and treat everybody with respect.
It’s a Catch-22. When you get one of the MAGA Republicans on the air, they insult people. I recall a situation where Stephanie Ruhle had Lauren Boebert on and Ruhle went very easy on her. She was really trying to communicate. Ruhle even ended the interview with an invitation for Boebert to come back and “discuss red flag laws.” Boebert’s reply to that was to say, “Oh, you’re such a loser.” Boebert had a few options: she could have said, “Thank you and we should do that.” Or, she could have smiled and said, “Thank you for having me on,” and not addressed the issue at all. But no, she had to insult the woman on her own show, when she was being gracious.
This is the new abnormal in American culture. In MAGA world, there is no substance, no policies, nothing real. There’s only looking good and making short, vicious, cutting remarks. This is the casual cruelty in our country, which even George W. Bush derided. Even Dubya was moved to describe the goings on in the Trump White House in basic, blunt terms.
And Dubya made that comment before Melania Trump left in the limo wearing the pea coat, I Really Don’t Care Do U?
What has happened to our country when a candidate for president can’t answer a simple, straightforward question about one of his tweets? How did we get to this Bizarro World we live in now?
But let’s look on the bright side: Mehdi Hasan threw down a marker tonight. He made it clear that on his show, at least, he will get simple answers to simple questions. Maybe this is the beginning of the way back to sanity? Or, maybe every newscast is going to degenerate into a shouting match.
I guess we’re going to find out.
Simple answers to simple questions is a nice minimum. I remember the days of intelligent answers to intelligent questions. But that was a long time ago when there were intelligent people in the GOP.

Now, they think cunning and evasive is smart and that equals intelligence.

A cult that never can explain or come up with ANY rational answers to the things they believe, of course love leaders who wallow in self serving lies. America sh*ts on teachers, who have one of the most important jobs in our culture, and elevates athletes, and the bureaucracy that supports them, by paying them outrageous money, and valuing their opinions on things they know nothing about. Is it any wonder our politics have devolved into wearing jerseys and a winner take all mentality? If we don’t change our values, the homo sapien species will go extinct, as did all the other hominids. FACT. Dr. King was not a perfect man, but he was better than most of us. His proclamation about character being the most important aspect of a person was prophetic. People of faith have heard the gospels say live by the sword die by the sword. That principle holds true for most aspects of behavior. Live by greed, stupidity, and lies…die by the same. Time for us to do as Fani Willis suggested to Gym Jordan…either face and deal with reality, or be prepared for reality to deal with YOU.
Unfortunately “changing our values” is the Republicans calling card now. But changing them only in the extreme Christian values they ascribe to. The actual Christian way would be to love your neighbors the same way you love yourself. Their values actually go against many Christian teachings.
Ramaswamy = Word salad on Red Bull and Mehdi Hasan is having none of it. He cuts Vivek off at the knees and that is what the media needs to do with all the GOP candidates.

There is no longer any reason for interviewers, or anyone else for that matter, to be polite and respectful to magats. They have proven to the world they are incapable of exhibiting such behavior to others. REAL people of the Fourth Estate need to take off the kid gloves and put these mental midgets (mental amoeba actually) in their proper place–the sewer from which they crawled.

It’s typical to a republican block and change the narrative. And Mehdi hit a nerve when he asked why he wouldn’t answer the question. Was he scared of Trump. Listen, all these down ballot candidates know they are just auditioning for second chair. This clown has a good shot at it. He’s on the short list. That’s why he wouldn’t answer the question. Now he could have answered with some bullcrap answer butt remember he’s auditioning so he’s gotta show that when interrogated he’s not going to fold. He’s going to hold the line and give them nothing.
