Well, as Daffy Duck used to say, this is a revoltin’ development – and a bit embarrassing for yours truly, as I was the one who posted confidently last night about Lauren Boebert’s impending banishment from Congress, our collective consciousness and the news cycles – but after a hard day counting ballots from Republican areas of Colorado’s 3rd district (and sameday-ballots which tend to be Republican) Democrat Adam Frisch’s lead over Boebert, which stood at 2,449 votes this morning has shrunk to just 64 as of 8:15 Mountain time this evening.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that the Pueblo, Colorado newspaper I link to below had headlined as I started this post that NRA Barbie had taken a 36 vote lead but has since corrected.

The further good news is that the bulk of the remaining ballots to be counted, some 3,200 to be precise, are mail-in ballots from Pueblo itself which is a slightly blue haven in a high prairie of red.

Here’s the article.

“Editors note: A previous version of this story that briefly was posted online incorrectly stated that incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert had taken a 36-vote lead over challenger Adam Frisch as of the latest Pueblo County voting data Wednesday night. A Chieftain reporter misread the data. Frisch still leads Boebert by 64 votes as of 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.”

Frisch maintained a slight lead over Boebert throughout the day Wednesday but it dwindled heading into the evening.

Approximately 2,600 in-person ballots in Pueblo County were not included in previous reported totals, according to the county clerk. About 1,000 Republicans, 500 Democrats and 1,000 unaffiliated Puebloans cast ballots on in-person machines.

After building an early lead Tuesday, Frisch’s advantage shrank overnight as more ballots were reported in Mesa County, and it was further narrowed Wednesday morning to just 2,449 votes. Frisch’s lead narrowed again after additional votes were reported in Pueblo County, the largest by population in CD-3, with nearly 170,000 residents…

…Election judges are coming back to election headquarters at 9 a.m. Thursday to continue manually processing mail ballots in bipartisan teams, per Colorado’s election rules.

Approximately 3,200 mail ballots have not yet been counted.”

The article as a whole is not particularly clear, but I’m counting on the last quoted sentence to be good news for us… and Frisch.

The mail in vote should trend blue.

Guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow.

  1. I’ve got my fingers crossed. It’s like she injected herself with zombie DNA or something. Not the old, slow moving Night of the Living Dead Zombies but the newer ones that are super strong and super fast & much harder to kill. I hope your info. about where remaining votes are proves accurate. I have to confess it’s a little confusing about how many uncounted ballots there are, the type and EXACTLY where they are coming from. (Remembering 2929 and Maricopa County when the Fox desk responsible for tabulating returns had a precinct by precinct breakdown and correctly determined that things would wind up breaking for Biden. Right now I wish we had such granular details to go on)

  2. Going to be one of those fly by night , while everybody’s sleeping , while we least expect it , when the ball drops .
Is it just me , or does 8 days , post election sound like plenty of time for a payloaderful of unicast votes to get over to the mailbox and turn it around in that _____ ___’_ favor ?
Is what’s got me pounding the pavement .

  3. I know it’s important to look at the successes, it still makes me sick that the goddamn people of this country are so corrupt. Selfishness, racism, and stupidity STILL has kept these assholes in power. Given everything that has gone on the past 6 YEARS and the fact the GOP has supported overthrowing our democracy, they should have lost all the races. We couldn’t get Beasley elected in NC as the women here decided its better to have an asshole in charge of their bodies. Walker should have been laughed out of town. Now this pissant is still alive. The nazi in the swamp known as florida and his minions all won. Stacey couldn’t defeat the nazi in GA. A GODDAMN COUNTRY RUNNING LIKE A GAME SHOW, complete with mindless clapping & a fucking laugh track. This place is an ongoing shitshow to Hell. Planet don’t care. Planet won’t wait for us to get our shit together. Our children will ultimately pay for our stupid shit.

    • I think I stopped giving a shit about ANY of that around 2018…2020 for sure, when whether I lived or died required a higher order of thinking than grievance nurturing. It didn’t help anybody on our side then, doesn’t help now. What will is fighting these assholes every day we can until one of us goes away for a while.

As was said in the first Terminator movie, “nobody goes home.” Truth be told, I doubt I ever really had one of those after 2005 anyway, so I never had that much to miss. Time is short, relitigation solves nothing. There is only the fight and the people who need us.

    • I think it is largely greed more than anything Scott. Fact is I cannot think of a national media outlet that wasn’t harping, hourly, about inflation right up to election night F.F.S. More to the point the script was Could President Biden have caused it, did what the dems do further it, and how can we get rid of it. No one in the news industry has apparently taken a single economics course otherwise surely they’d be asking pertinent questions and reporting pertinent news instead of asininity. Coming into the holiday season, people hear, hourly, INFLATION PEOPLE INFLATION IS COMING FOR YOUR HOLIDAYS and rather than acting like sensible beings, they turn into the assholes we see at 4:00-5:00 AM on the day after Txgiving trying to get that newest x-box, doll, or what-the-fuck-ever.

Of course in the south and places like MT and ID, the population is on average 10 I.Q. points lower than the rest of the country which means they actually did not take economics…or they sure as shit failed it.

    • MTG won because the area is filled with gun nuts, stupid evangelical Christians, and football.fans who don’t have brain I juries because no one would notice since they are du!Her than dog poop.

  4. It ain’t over till it’s over.

The latest word can find is that it ain’t over.

The Frisch campaign is still working hard, but now it’s on making sure that all ballots get counted. This involvs things like getting voters who failed to sign their ballot envelopes report to the county electio offices that yes, that was really them. This is an error primarily made by younger voters. And they are still accepting donations to cover their costs in this effort.

I’m typing at 2:40 MST on Thursday.
