What a wild primary, although it’s not really a GOP primary that we’re talking about. Rather, it’s a bizarre reenactment of normal political rituals from the past. The GOP has not been normal for quite some time, and yes, 2015 would be as good a year as any to pinpoint its demise.
Donald Trump was in New Hampshire today and he reviled Chris Christie, in a backhanded manner, a manner which he considered witty. And he was so impressed with himself, that upon closing his eyes tonight (or getting his shot from the doctor, who was getting tired of hearing him squall, we’ll never know) that he decided to make it his last post for the day. This was posted around midnight, ET.

Trump also posted this late in the evening. It was the very last thing that made it to Trump’s page before it went quiet for the night.
Not sure where he got that. This is the latest poll I’ve seen and I got it from Charlie Sykes’ newsletter this morning. Sykes said these were the latest figures post Indictment 3.
Maybe there’s a method in Trump’s madness but I’m not seeing it. Anybody?
Or, maybe he’s just unraveling mentally more and more each day. And that I do see. What’s the old expression, “Never ascribe to conspiracy that which can be easily explained by simple stupidity.” If any aphorism applies here, that would be the one. And keep it in mind as the campaign(s) progress towards an inevitable climax next summer. Be there, will be wild — as Trump once said.

I think there IS a simple explanation. Trump is scared of Christie, who easily skewers him and on a regular basis. Trump knows Christie is smarter, tougher and meaner AND is quite capable of doing all his own dirty work. The thought of facing Christie on a debate stage live and on camera terrifies Trump. And, deep down inside Trump knows the time is coming when Christie will be out there openly MOCKING him as a coward (which Trump is) for ducking debates.
Trump I think has concocted a fantasy that maybe if he talks about Christie then the guy will back off. I just don’t see that happening. Trump fancies himself as a giant shark but knows he’s not. He’s just some a-hole wearing a gray wetsuit with a fin on his back BUT that Christie is a real live shark and smells blood in the water. HIS (Trump’s) blood. I gather that like so many people Trump is fascinated by sharks so he knows how they often just swim around prey, rubbing up against them or their tiny rubber raft, the aquatic version of a cat f**king with a mouse before moving in for the kill. That’s where things are with Christie and Trump. The real shark is circling, and the fake one is out there in the middle of the ocean without hope of rescue, and bleeding.
And let us not forget Bridgegate. Christie is much bigger than Fat Donnie in every way, and not just in girth: smarter and tougher and just as mean. Plus,Chris has actual Mafia Dons on his phone;they haven’t lived in NYC for decades. Trump.has to make due with the Russian Mob,,who are vicious and bloody and scary, but lack subtlety. They don’t have Don Corleone running them, just fifth rate Putinesque murderers.(I suspect their counterparts in Russia,will have a big say in the fate of Vlad;when he becomes bad for business, they will.nod assent to the oligarchs and he will be gone)/
