It appears that the midterm elections are having an impact on Trump’s cabinet. There are rumors in the wind as some people worry about what the Democrats might do if they regain power, and they just might. However, a lot can change between now and midterms, so we can’t be certain they will regain control of Congress. We can hope, but we can‘t be certain until midterms are done. And we’re hoping a LOT. The will of the people will tell Republicans, and us, what will be done. From Raw Story:
As the 2026 midterm elections fast approach, and with assessments suggesting a potentially strong performance from Democrats, a number of top Trump administration officials may resign in an effort to avoid being “slapped with subpoenas” from a Democrat-controlled Congress, political analyst and journalist Jason Easley argued Sunday in an analysis.
“Suppose Democrats win control of Congress and the presidency in 2028,” Easley wrote on PoliticusUSA, a left-leaning news website. “In that case, the next Democratic president will have to make fixing the damage Trump has done to the country and our system of government a priority… It would not be surprising if Democrats do well in the midterms, people like Pam Bondi and Kash Patel resign before they can be slapped with subpoenas.”
Okay, that was a bit long of a quote to start with, but it was needed. This is our setup. Democrats winning is making a lot of people nervous. After all, they’re going to need to defend themselves for quite a few actions they have taken. How about Pam Blondi and the Epstein files, and 1,000 agents going over them, likely to redact Trump’s name? Or Kash firing agents because they worked on the January 6 investigations into Trump?
They *both* have things to answer for. Those are just specific examples. They should be worried. Democrats will not forget abuses of the power of their offices. One might wonder if anyone is keeping a list. After all, there have been more and more signs rushing towards midterms that it’s starting to look bad for Republicans. And they know there will be questions. Yes, there is a lot to fix in the Age of Trump. Is there a way to get rid of Stephen Miller, too? Please?
Historical election data shows that the party occupying the White House has lost ground in 20 of the past 22 midterm elections dating back to 1938. Additionally, the severity of the election loss has been shown to correlate heavily with the incumbent president’s popularity, and with Trump having the lowest 100-day approval rating in 80 years, Easley argued Democrats could very well win back control of Congress, and with that control, the power of the subpoena.
Well now, that could be a problem.,,,for Republicans. Since Trump’s approval rating continues to nosedive, that’s something to consider. Trump is taking actions that even MAGA doesn’t like. Bombing boats near Venezuela just might be one of them. But Trump has gone far enough that he can’t back out now. He’s committed. He has no *proof* that the boats were carrying drugs. He just takes them out. It also seems he is pushing towards war with Venezuela. They’ll have an advantage if he sends troops in. It’s called the home country. But let’s go back to this piece and talk about the bombings another time. To close:
In support of his prediction that top-ranking Trump officials may step down from their positions should Democrats regain control of Congress, Easley pointed to remarks made by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) Sunday to MSNBC, in which the lawmaker suggested that Democrats would hold the Justice Department “to account” should his party win big in the midterms.
Raskin is currently the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, which holds subpoena power; should Democrats win majority control of the House next year, Raskin would likely become the chair of the committee as its top Democrat. And, given his remarks about holding the DOJ “to account,” Easley argued that subpoenas could very well be in the cards. “Democrats seem to have a sense of how and where to act to limit Trump’s power, but none of this is possible unless they take back the House,” Easley wrote.
That’s not going to be easy, far from it. We need actions to start now and build towards that goal. Pretty sure we can do it, though. If members of Trump’s cabinet and top Republicans are getting nervous, it’s good for us. Keep it up, Democrats. Stay in the fight. We need you.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Not understanding how those Drumpf officials think that resignations will “save” them from being subpoenaed.
From the website of a legal firm that indicates it specializes in helping *private* citizens with Congressional subpoenas:
“You are a private citizen. You do not work for the government nor is your business entwined with the affairs of the federal government. However, you just received a subpoena. The main question running through your head is: Can Congress subpoena me – a private citizen?
The answer?
Yes, it can.”
There’s more (and I’m a bit concerned with the firm’s political leanings as Mike Pompeo and Kevin McCarthy are part of the firm’s legal “team”) but it does NOT suggest that anyone will be “safe” from a Congressional subpoena just because they resign. Congress will be investigating DRUMPF and his behaviors and actions and any officials who resign would be called as witnesses.
(The firm is “Oberheiden, P. C.” and their website is federal-lawyer.com. I also find their political leanings a bit suspect given there’s a scroll of “news” sites that includes “The Epoch Times” as if it’s a reliable news source rather than a blatant propaganda trumpet.)
