This article is written at 5:00 p.m. on Monday late afternoon. If the Manhattan grand jury met to get an indictment out today, we could pretty safely say that it didn’t happen. I am guessing, but I don’t suspect that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office would want to announce an indictment as it is about to get dark. It seems that any such announcement would come early in the morning to give police all the time they need to organize – during daylight, to prepare for any demonstration.

Ari Fleisher on MSNBC says that David Pecker, owner of the National Inquirer, is the “Catch and Kill” guy.

Of course, there is no rule that the D.A. must charge someone the day they get a grand jury indictment. Indeed, there’s no rule that the D.A. must charge someone who has been indicted. The District Attorney retains powerful discretion as to whether to charge.

We have the news from The New York Daily News:

The Manhattan grand jury hearing about Donald Trump’s “hush money” payment to porn star Stormy Daniels returned to court Monday, a law enforcement source told the Daily News.

The grand jury, which usually starts the day at 2 p.m., was in the building by 1 p.m., the source said. It was unclear whether prosecutors intended to call more witnesses or ask the panel to vote on an indictment against Trump.

Scores of reporters and photographers had the DA’s office surrounded as anticipation continued to build that Trump is about to become the first current or former U.S. president in history to face criminal charges.

The next time that the grand jury can meet is on Wednesday. They normally start at 2:00. That meeting presumes that they didn’t vote after Pecker’s testimony. I’ll keep you up to date.
