Now Trump’s entertaining a new angle about how to get back under the big top, which would be running as a representative from Florida — start shaking in your boots, Matt, yours is the seat he might go after — and then becoming Speaker of the House.

Now, here’s where it gets weird and Trump is too stupid to know this: He wouldn’t have to be elected a representative to become Speaker of the House. In the event, God forbid, that the Republicans take back the House in 2022, then the Republicans could simply vote to make him Speaker. Now is that a synopsis for a horror movie, or what? Kevin McCarthy is probably frothing at the mouth right now, trying to figure out how to keep somebody from explaining this to Trump.
Another thought here, is can a convicted felon assume the duties of Speaker of the House, because that might be an additional variable to weigh by the time 2022 roles around.
Let’s see how weird it gets in North Carolina tonight. That should be a bellwether of the direction Trump is going.

Even if he were to be appointed to the post, he wouldn’t last long. He might do it until he could get the investigation started, then quit. He doesn’t have the constitution for anything resembling work, even if it is presiding over the proceedings. The demands on his time would definitely be too much.
