As insane as it was to put this man on the ticket in 2016, knowing what we know now, and seeing him defend four criminal prosecutions simultaneously, it is positively surreal that Donald Trump is still on his way to the top of the GOP ballot again. What can possibly motivate people to still support him? Do they believe that this is all a conspiracy of James Bondian proportions — which is what Karl Rove said Trump’s initial conspiracy theory of a stolen election was? Because with regularity we get some revelation as to how utterly cockeyed this upcoming election is with Trump as a candidate, but still he’s there. Here is the latest. Daily Beast:

A longtime valet at Mar-a-Lago whose witness testimony helped investigators charge Donald Trump over his alleged efforts to illegally hoard and hide classified documents is speaking out for the first time about his involvement with the case, telling CNN on Monday that he doesn’t believe the felony charges against his former boss constitute “a witch hunt.”

Brian Butler, 41, worked for two decades as a club valet, chauffeur, and manager at Trump’s South Florida estate, and was at one point best friends with property manager Carlos De Oliveira. (De Oliveira and another Trump employee, Walt Nauta, both face criminal charges alongside the former president.)

Butler is the employee who unknowingly moved 10 to 15 boxes of classified documents in banker’s boxes to a plane to be taken to Mar-a-Lago.

Butler is most prominently featured in the indictment because of the suggestion that Trump may have dangled the promise of legal representation as a reward for securing De Oliveira’s loyalty. Two weeks after the FBI executed a search warrant at the resort in August 2022, according to the indictment, Nauta called “Trump Employee 5” to check in and “make sure Carlos is good,” in reference to De Oliveira. The employee, Butler, twice reassured Nauta that De Oliveira was loyal to Trump.

Butler said that he was with De Oliveira at a Florida casino food court when the call came in that Trump would provide him with a lawyer. De Oliveira hung up “happily,” according to CNN. Butler explained he later resisted efforts by De Oliveira to get him to accept an attorney through Trump, and secured legal representation elsewhere.

Butler told CNN that what is included in the indictment is just a small snippet of what he knows about what transpired at Mar-a-Lago that year. He is likely to share more when called to testify in court against Trump, Nauta, and De Oliveira.

“I felt like it was a total no-win situation for me. I mean, they’re asking me questions about one of my best friends,” Butler said. “I’m being honest. But I also have a bad feeling that what I’m saying is getting him into trouble. Nobody should have to go through that. And for [Trump] to get up there all the time and say the things he says about this being a witch hunt and everything… He just can’t take responsibility for anything.”

Trump can’t take responsibility for anything and he’s a horrible boss as a result. When you run a business, any business, if you’re the owner, the buck stops with you. And it has stopped with Trump before, hence all of his failed businesses and bankruptcies. And now he’s looking to coopt the United States government, once again, into his corral of failed endeavors and sell us out to adversarial foreign interests. It is happening under our noses, yet amazingly, a lot of people cover for the guy, Judge Aileen Cannon among them.

Butler quit his job in November, 2022, saying he was “disillusioned.” We understand that. Butler and De Oliveira were reportedly close friends that, “frequently took evening walks together as prosecutors sniffed around. During one of these walks, Butler said, De Oliveira told him they were “all dirty,” having moved the boxes around for their boss.” I’m sure De Oliveira was disillusioned as well. I doubt that any normal person, thinking that they were working for a country club and a wealthy man ever thought in their wildest dreams that they would be caught up in international intrigue and treason.

Here are a few clips from an amazing interview.

Can America fall due to one crooked judge? And is there nothing that can be done against that crooked judge or to bring this case to trial before the election? It reminds me of that old poem that ends, “and the kingdom was lost for the want of a nail.”

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Has it truly come to this? Can America be lost for the want of a trial date so that the public can hear this man’s testimony and all of the other witnesses’ testimony? And the answer may be yes, because of this: the GOP is complicit in everything Trump does. They’re fine with him thieving and grifting. They’re fine with anything. He could cook his children in a pie and eat them and they would be fine with it. They just want to see him back in power so that they can stay in power forever along with him.

Never forget that. Trump didn’t get here by himself. And if he is able to destroy America, it is with the help of a renegade, traitorous, gutless, immoral, treasonous disgrace of a Republican party.

  1. This would be a real good time to rid congress of republicans, HoR and Senate, reelect President Biden, and fix our broken court system STARTING with the s.c. thomas and alito are no longer to be trusted given all the gifts they receive from oligarchs, etc. and the same givers having cases before the court. This is corruption on a level we seldom see in this country–to see it in the highest court in the land is appalling. Add to those two the impeachment of beer bong and barrett for being lying little f*cks and we can start to clean up our federal court system starting at the top–an excellent place to start.

  2. The judges of the highest court in Germany stood in a line in their judicial robes…all giving the nazi salute! Any questions? By the way if anyone expects a malignant narcissist to take responsibility for ANYTHING, you will be waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting…
