There’s a crass expression that I guess Tina Peters has never heard, “fuck around and find out.” She is now about to understand the meaning of the phrase. Peters, you may recall,  lost the GOP primary seeking the nomination for Secretary of State. Naturally, she behaved like a child and claimed that the “votes were flipped” and the “election fraudulent.”

Peters is in hot water today because she traveled to Las Vegas to attend a Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association conference. While there, Peters signed a notarized letter to Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold on Monday, demanding a recount of the primary election ballots. The letter was notarized by a notary in Clark County, Nevada, which is the smoking gun which put the Colorado authorities on notice that Peters was out of state, in violation of the terms of her bail. Colorado Sun:

A judge Thursday ordered indicted Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters to be arrested for violating the conditions of her bond by traveling to Las Vegas this week without first notifying the court and prosecutors.

Mesa County District Court Judge Matthew David Barrett issued a warrant for Peters’ arrest and for her to be held in jail pending a hearing. He also revoked her $25,000 cash bond. […]

[D.A. Dan] Rubinstein filed a motion on Monday asking Barrett to require that any out-of-state travel by Peters be approved.

“Ms. Peters has lost the election and is no longer a candidate,” Rubinstein wrote in a court motion this week. “The people believe that Ms. Peters needs to be treated like all other criminal defendants on bond and needs to file a motion asking for a modification of her bond conditions, and get permission from the court prior to traveling. Ms. Peters has less motivation to appear in court now that she is no longer a candidate. Additionally, she has evidenced through her travel prior to the election that she has the means to flee if she wants to.”

Steinberg didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment. Peters told a reporter for KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs that she submitted her itinerary to her attorney and said Rubinstein was engaged in a “vicious retaliatory attack” for her criticism of his handling of a drug case.

Peters was indicted in March on 10 counts, including allegations of attempting to influence a public servant and criminal impersonation. The charges stem from a security breach of her county’s election system.

What I find incredible about this is that when Peters was briefly in jail, she hated it. You would think that she would have learned her lesson. But she did not. She thinks she can do anything, go anywhere, the law doesn’t apply.

She’s about to get a degree in the School Of Hard Knocks, me thinks.

  1. Isn’t she part of the Mike Lindell true believer cult? Do they provide deprogramming in the Mesa County Jail?

I have to admit I enjoy the schadenfreude of seeing/hearing about these idiots being forced to deal w/ reality.

  2. 900+ souls drank poison cuz a cult leader told them they would meet Jesus. Obviously, our species contains quite a capacity to substitute delusions for reality. This cult is no different.

  3. If the account that “she submitted her itinerary to her attorney” is accurate, then there’s an attorney who needs to face some MAJOR disciplinary action (if not lose their license to practice entirely) for not forwarding it to the court.
Obviously, I’m thinking one of two things is in the works: First, she’s lying about the matter and going to be needing a new attorney because what attorney wants a client who’s going to throw them under the bus; second, she’s telling the truth and going to be needing a new attorney because they’re both going to be in jail or the attorney’s not going to be practicing law in Colorado for a very long while.

    • I respectfully disagree. Attorneys regulate themselves about as well as the medical profession. It will be the same crickets chirping that sang when the Supreme Court nominees lied under oath & now sit on the bench. Believe it when I see it.
