Here’s a good piece of news for your day, like me, or night, for most others. This has been percolating in the background for *quite* a while. And for those of us with brains and knowledge of the *truth*, it should have happened much sooner. But! No thanks to Mikey, it’s finally getting done! This is a quick one, so you may sigh in relief. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) announced that Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) had agreed to hang a plaque honoring the officers who protected the U.S. Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Speaking on the Senate floor on Thursday, Tillis joined with Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) to obtain unanimous consent to pass a resolution in favor of hanging the plaque after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) refused to display it throughout 2025.
Hot diggety! Finally! And, as I already said, about damn time. This should have gone up years ago. And as a hopefully unnecessary reminder, not all of them made it. That’s still gut-wrenching. It’s going up. It *belongs* up. It *needs* to be shown in honor of those who did their best to protect Congress. It’s one hell of an insult that it hasn’t gone up for so long. It’s surprising that Thune agreed to it. I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, nosirree!
“I also want to thank the Republican leader, Sen. Thune, because he has agreed that we will be able to display this until the final location is in place, and I appreciate his help in doing that,” Tillis said in his floor speech. CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane called the move a “big defection by Senate Republicans against Trump, who spread more lies about January 6th this week through the White House’s new web page.”
Ah, yes, the whitewashed shizzle web page. That’s an insult to Congress and the police. That’s Trump’s ego-boo about waiting more than 3 hours to call them off, even after people were begging him to do so. That’s unforgivable. It’s all been said before, so I don’t need to say it again. It looks like Republicans are (finally) getting over the “loyalty to Trump” crap as they see him sliding further and further downhill. Well, except Moses Mikey. Mmhmmm.
Maybe, just maybe, they see what he has done in general and what *they* did when passing the Big Ugly Bill, especially given how expired ACA subsidies and Medicare reductions are hurting their constituents so badly. Maybe, just maybe, *all* of them are looking at their re-election chances, not just the ones for midterms, that are going to be six feet under when it comes to getting their positions back. And maybe, just maybe, they aren’t liking what they see when they look at themselves. I’m not holding my breath.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. I hadn’t noticed it before I read your comment… went back up to look. I dunno that I’d agree he pulled it off. That disc is oversized. If it were sharp metal, he’d slit his own throat!
