The GOP House Is About To Be Sorely Disappointed. And P*ssed

I think I’m looking forward to this more than almost anything else I can think of happening over the next two years of maniacal GOP control in the House. Because once again these idiots wrote checks with their mouths that their legislative bodies can’t cash.

Look, we all know that the GOP ran a fact and issue free campaign in 2022, which is a good reason their beautiful red wave never developed. But what did the GOP run on in 2022. Well, culture wars of course, which pretty much crashed like The Hindenburg. But pretty much what the GOP offered their low IQ, bloodthirsty base was oversight! 

Endless investigations into everything Biden. Everything from Hunter Biden’s laptop to Biden’s daughters stolen diary. From DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the southern border, to investigating the J6 Investigators. A Lollapalooza of Democratic dirt. And that’s what the rabid GOP base is going to expect them to deliver. Nonstop entertainment until the bars open.

But this was one of the stupidest things the GOP could have offered, because they can’t deliver on it. They were driven by two very compelling but also destructive human emotions, Jealousy and outrage. Jealousy at the insane popularity of the J6 committee hearings that exposed Glorious Bleater as a seditionist traitor, and outrage that the Democrats had been so successful of embedding J6 into the pubic consciousness when all the GOP wanted was for it to go away.

And now that they have the House back, they are obsessed by revenge. What they want is a never-ending series of nationally televised House committee hearings, while they roast every Democrat then can find over an open fire, and try to mitigate and undo Traitor Tot’s complicity in treason. But they’re already doomed to failure, before the first gavel ever falls to open a hearing. Why?

Because the dumbasses in the GOP are ignoring the cardinal rule of TV coverage.
A network’s decision as whether or not to cover a congressional hearing is based on two things, impact and newsworthiness. On January 6th, we all sat in front of televisions and watched an attempted Trump coup d’etat to overthrow the United States government. That ranks right up there with 9/11 and Pearl Harbor Day in national intensity. And when the J6 committee gaveled in to investigate the causes and effects, damn near everybody wanted to know why and how.

And now the GOP wants payback, and they’re expecting equal time from the networks. News Flash! They aren’t going to get it. January 6th was an actual attempt to overthrow the United States government by force. It snared the imagination and outrage of the country, compelling gavel-to-gavel coverage of the hearings.

And what are the GOP offering instead? Hunter Biden’s laptop? Where the hell is the compelling national interest in that? Cast your mind back a few years to the Obama administration. We had a terrorist attack on the US Legation compound that killed the US Ambassador and three other Americans. It caused a national uproar. And the GOP controlled House spent three years and more than seven million dollars holding investigative hearings into the Benghazi tragedy. But out of all of that, how many nationally televised hearings were there? To my feeble memory, only Hillary Clinton’s 11 hour marathon hearing before the House committee. There has to be a serious reason for the networks to cover a congressional hearing.

So all these overstuffed, pompous GOP Chairs can go right ahead and hold their endless committee investigative meetings, but unless their bed wetting followers can find C-SPAN on cable, they’re not going to see more than 15 seconds of the hearing on the nightly news. Because the networks know a nothingburger when they see it, and they’re just not going to waste the time.
