I don’t agree with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell about much of anything, but on one subject we find ourselves in complete agreement. More than a month ago, reading the already clear tea leaves, McConnell started preparing the sheeple that a likely change in the makeup of the Senate was not likely. to change, and blaming the issue on Candidate Quality.

The man knew of what he spoke. When the cycle started, there were widely considered to be 5 Democratic held seats that were considered as prime, or realistic GOP pickups. Those qwew GA, AZ, NV, CO, and NH. In return, the only true weak GOP held seat was seen as Ron Johnson in WI. The wild cards in the deck were 3 open GOP seats, NC, PA, and OH, all GOP held, but without the incumbent advantage. And that’s where the problem lies.

Because Traitor Tot just couldn’t resist sticking his fat New York fingers into the mix. In North Carolina he backed GOP state rep Ted Budd. In Pennsylvania he backed TV cruise ship doctor Mehmet Oz. In OH,  His Lowness backed billionaire Hillbilly JD vance. In Georgia he backed former UGA football star and Trump overpaid former NFL star Herschel Walker. In NH, CO, and AZ Trump backed the usual bottom of the kitty litter box Trombie election deniers.

It’s turned into a Faustian nightmare for the GOP. Let’s be clear. Oz in PA, Walker in GA, and especially Vance in OH are all independently wealthy men, easily capable of at least partially funding their own campaigns. But each one carries a common bond with Trump. They’re all 3rd rate grifters who have no interest in spending their own money. So they wait for somebody else to bail them out.

Which is a nightmare for the GOP, because Traitor Tot has sucked the grassroots small donor data base dry. As a result, McConnell’s Super PAC has poured more that $20 million into the Vance campaign to prop up a billionaire. More GOP Super PAC’s are spending more than $10 million to prop up Herschel Walker in Georgia. And they’re pumping millikons into Oz’s campaign just to try to keep it close.

But here’s the problem. It isn’t just these rich asshole marquis races. In New Hampshire Maggie Hassan’s race is tightening. Michael Bennet’s race in Colorado could be in Nevada is in a dogfight. And despite all odds, Blake Masters is in striking distance in Arizona, if the GOP played there. Catherine Cortez Masto oi Nevada is in a margin of error race with Trumptard Adam Laxalt in NV.

But none of them can get effective funding because there are lazy, useless GOPtards already in office that are already dying onent  the vine. In Florida, GOP weasel is publicly squealing for money, and in Wisconsin, incumbent Ron Johnson is in the fight of his life. If the GOP wants to retake the majority in the Senate, the first thing they have to do is to protect the seats they already own. Which sucks away precious money the RNC and RSCC already doesn’t have.

Candidates like Beasley in North Caroline, Demmings in Florida, and Barnes in Wisconsin have already won the battle for the Democrats, because they have forced the GOP to spend money they don’t really have to defend seats they shouldn’t even have to contest. My guess? Democrats +2 in the Senate.

  1. “The Senate races are just different.” Is that turtle code for “we can’t gerrymander whole states to keep black, Latino, and Democrats from voting?” Because that’s what it sounds like to me!🐢

    • Give them time and most especially majorities in the house and senate and they’ll manage something of that sort. It’s not as if the six political hacks on the s.c. will do anything to stop it.

      • I did not know this. Thank you for what is a reminder for many but a new bit of knowledge for some of us.

When it comes to criticizing another’s writing, I’m pretty sure we all live in glass houses.

      • Glaucoma does not affect central (reading vision) until the very end stages. I know because I have it, with .75 cupping of the optic nerve heads. And I also have recurrent bilateral autoimmune iritis, dry eyes, and beginning macular degeneration. I have also had cataracts removed, and a “post cataract” laser cspsulotomy. So if I can still read Murph’s errors, then they are there because they don’t need to be. He should spend a little time on personal proofreading. I know he can still do that because at times he does, resulting in a stellar letter-perfect article. I lke what Murph says enough to put up with his usual lack of editing, but I like it so much more when he puts forth the editing effort.

        • “Cspsulotomy” should be “capsulotomy.” My virtual keyboard is slipped, so that letters to the right of the ones I press get registered, especially with a’s becoming s’s. I don’t think Murph has to deal with that.

    • Totally agree. Whatever (good) points you tried to make were overshadowed by the typos and grammatical errors that abounded within the article. Did you even bother to proofread this before you hit “submit” ??

    • We’d all be more inclined to give your comment some merit *IF* we’d actually seen you (or Frank as well) around here before.

As Bareshark noted, Murf has some vision issues and those of us who’ve been around a fairly long time are willing to cut him the necessary slack.

And, when your own comment is rife with errors (no capital letters, using ellipsis when you’re actually making a new sentence), your complaint falls on its face. IOW, practice what you fucking preach.

  2. Hard to imagine that what’s true for the Senate is less true for the House races…seriously. If the district maps are indeed the fairest they’ve been in 40 years as I’ve heard claimed, then it’s just a question of work. And does anybody think that would-be congresspeople of the GOP stripe are any less lazy than their Senate race counterparts? Some districts are beyond our reach but enough are within it to win.

So…forget current polling (which doesn’t count newly registered voters), forget “voter enthusiasm” (which is unlikely to have nearly enough on the Republican side to turn out the numbers) and get the work in over the next 15 days. I say again: volunteer, donate, text, postcard, whatever for as much you can. We can win this thing!

    • That “voter enthusiasm” always gets me. So there’s an “enthusiasm gap”; so what? Enthusiasm doesn’t vote. I’m one who isn’t enthusiastic. Voting isn’t a day at an amusement park; it’s my civic duty, and I damn well will be voting in a day or two.

Instead of measuring “enthusiasm”, if the polls measured how “important” the respondents think it is to vote this year, they might get a more accurate picture.

  3. For the truth spelling means little. People can read as long and the first and last letters are in the correct place and using one’s intelligence can compensate for the rest. This is something that I do not expect from trolls. Thank you Murf, I really do appreciate your articles.

  4. Now if we are done talking about Murfs eyesight or lack of. He’s pretty smart in his way and was bringing up that the GOP retards are crying in their beer over there dumbass candidates. Most of which couldn’t get elected in a one man election.
