Holy Wrong Note, Batman, did this guy strike a chord! Baptist minister Stewart-Allen Clark has been preaching his version of the gospel to the women in his Missouri flock, telling them that above all else, God wants you to look good, and who is a better example of godliness than former First Lady Melania Trump? This commentary was not limited to this morning, but apparently Clark’s latest sermon was the proverbial straw, because he’s now on leave and receiving “professional counseling.”

There’s a good news, bad news aspect to this story. The good news is that in 2021, a sermon like this is received as ridiculous and due to social media, makes the world news. The bad news is that this guy is a throw back to a time when this was mainstream thinking. If he had been giving this sermon in 1959, thereabouts, nobody would have batted an eyelash. They probably would have thanked him.
And of course on a political level, it’s hilarious that he identifies Melania’s contribution to life and to Donald Trump as strictly visual, and presents that as a MAGA attribute. Look good and keep your mouth shut, girls, that’s the power structure we want to keep intact. And never forget, your highest ambition should be to marry a rich a$$hole, who can pay for you to look good. What else could there possibly be in life?
Remember, if the vessel looks good, it can be totally empty and who cares? Why should substance ever be more important than form? I mean, really.
I fear the bad news you referenced is incomplete. I fear the really bad news is that after a while (when the news has moved on to other things) this ass wipe will be welcomed back to his stage (not pulpit – stage!) by his flock. He’ll make some insincere apology, beg forgiveness (with some not so subtle reminders about “Christian” philosophy on the topic) and that he’s “learned his lesson.” Left unsaid will be the fact that the lesson was to be a lot more careful in how he preaches the whole “Women – be subject to your husbands” piece of scripture. He’ll go back to talking in code the way conservatives want to do with racism like they did for so many decades before Trump came along. I say he’ll get away with it. Anyone care to bet otherwise?
You’ll win the bet Denis. We’re seeing what has been wrought because an uppity “ni**er” was POTUS for 8 years. The white psyche (in the racists) went nuts. 45 was voted in. White terrorism is threatening Democracy. And religion…..this guy is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m worried.
Religion. The most evil joke ever played on the world. All I can say is ‘Thank God’ the galaxy revolves around the Earth. Religion is the second tool in the fascist tool box. Of course nationalism and racism are the primary tools.

I never thought Malaria was all that.
In fact, when you add her glowing like a rock personality with her air brushed presentation she isn’t much of anything at all.

It would have been nice if all the women got up en masse and walked out. Probably didn’t happen, though.
