This story has staying power. It’s still here more than a day later, and JD will be having image issues very soon, if not already. What he is saying is so wrong it’s less than a failing grade; it’s below a zero. And he sits in his house and sits in the White House all puffed up and proud of something he said he thinks will spin the shooting of Renee Good and make the ICE “officer” look a hero when he was just a trigger-happy goon. It’s not working, JD. I heard about protests ACROSS THE US. No, it’s not working. With much appreciation to Raw Story:
JD Vance promoted a leaked video as evidence that the ICE agent who shot and killed a mom in Minnesota was in the right, but that clip actually works against the administration’s story, according to a conservative analyst, Saturday. There was widespread division after a video showed a masked ICE agent shooting the woman, who was an American citizen, in the face. A later leaked clip showed a separate angle of the interaction and reveals words exchanged between the ICE agent and the woman. That’s the clip on which Vance seized.
That’s the one he used to say the “agent” was in fear for his life. That’s not what she said at all. And I’m still not going to watch any of it. She was not screaming crap at him, she was not “terrifying” him, she was trying to get her car maneuvered onto the street from an icy spot, and pull away. Any screaming was her partner after Renee had been shot.
“Watch this, as hard as it is,” Vance wrote on X. “Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn’t hit by a car, wasn’t being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman. The reality is that his life was endangered, and he fired in self-defense.” But according to conservative analyst Charlie Sykes, the video helps the story against the agent.
“The most remarkable thing about the latest Trumpist spin is that they think a new video strengthens their case, and makes the murder of Renee Nicole Good more justifiable,” Sykes wrote on Substack. “The latest video shows the incident from the point of view of ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who was recording the encounter on his phone before he drew his gun and shot the 37-year-old woman.”
He was recording the encounter. The video shows she was doing nothing except trying to get out of the way. Was he really that dense that he thought releasing the video would *help* him? Best as can be told, it did not. And Vance was crowing about it like it proved something for the agent. It did the opposite. It showed that ICE “agents” are trigger-happy goons. It’s hard to know when you aren’t present at something like that. But with how many people were recording….
Sykes goes on to say of Vance’s take, “This is not merely bulls—.” “It is Orwellian ignore-the-evidence-of-your-eyes bulls—,” the commentator added. “It follows a familiar and predictable pattern.” He further asks, “But what does the new video actually show?” “Not at all what the defenders seem to think,” the conservative analyst added. “The woman in the video is not a screaming radical extremist bent on killing an ICE agent,” he notes. “The very last words she spoke were conciliatory, not threatening. ‘That’s fine, dude, I’m not mad at you.'”
“I’m not mad at you.” He killed her after that. It *cannot* be misunderstood! If she had been doing any of JD’s domestic terrorism shizzle, that would have been recorded, too! As much as we detest uneducated bully-boy trigger-happy ICE ‘agents’, that would have been a completely different situation. And unless something major breaks loose after this, I’m going to try to stay off this subject for a while. Remember the Portland shootings, too. You know what? JD is the domestic terrorist. Not Renee.
