If you hear an echo it’s because whether or not history repeats itself, it does rhyme. Today there are two echoes, in fact. One, and this is the scary part, is that Greg Abbott sounds as completely batshit and unhinged as Donald Trump did during the 2016 primaries, and you know how that turned out. The second echo is that homo Neanderthalenis now has a place in the political lexicon next to Putin’s puppet, insofar as the two terms are bandied about identically.

This is a blast from the past. Abbott wants you to know that if the plague is spreading, it’s spreading from the Mexican border and Joe Biden is aiding and abetting it. This is so utterly racist and deranged that I am beginning to wonder if Abbott plans to run for president and I do not say that facetiously. This is Trump’s “rapists, drug dealers, they don’t send their best people” type of a polemic to a tee. What makes this diatribe more incredible still, is that Mexico has about a quarter of a million COVID cases and the United States has almost nine million. But if you cast your mind back, Trump was bragging about closing off the southern border as a means of containing COVID — yeah, from spreading southward from the U.S. into Mexico, but that wasn’t how he meant it.
Then there’s this jewel from the other half of the comedy team running the State of Texas right now, Dan Patrick. Patrick wants you to know that Hunter Biden is the Neanderthal here. Seriously. He’s out there in the woods hunting and gathering cash, according to Patrick. Bear in mind, Patrick also said that senior citizens in Texas would be happy to give their lives, if it would save the children’s 401Ks.
What is known at present is that 93% of Texans have not been vaccinated, so there is no herd immunity or any possibility of same.
It’s speculated that Abbott is doing this because he so desperately needed to deflect attention from his mangled handling of the winter storm and the utilities crisis. That’s a little bit like dynamiting the house next door, because you can’t figure out how to put out the fire in the one you’re in, and maybe nobody will notice that it’s still burning, while they’re busy picking up shrapnel from the explosion, but that may be how it is.
Maybe the reopening of states and reversals of mask mandates are meant to let President Biden fall on his face. He is succeeding and I’m sure the GQP hates that. They’d just as soon sacrifice a few of their own to take out a few Democrats. Great land we live in – how do we stop this nonsense?
A few, she says…try “a lot” in terms of their own people buying it before their preferred victims because they lack the basic alpha wave patterns to understand that COVID plays no favorites. I’m seeing that right now in TN while the vaccine schedule crawls by. So I look for it to blow up in their face.

I suspect Abbott is doing this to mollify the base. You know, all the free dummies who think wearing a mask is tyranny and infringing on their rights. He also maybe trying to curry favor with the Donald, like DeSantis and Noem.
