You’ve undoubtedly seen other clips or heard that Donald Trump kept falling asleep at his cabinet meeting this morning. He may have been worn out from his 162-post Truth Social binge which lasted until midnight and then resumed again at 5:48 a.m. 162 posts would take a lot out of anybody. Be that as it may, Trump took what was left of his energy and attended the cabinet meeting, where he proceeded to sleep while Linda McMahon was speaking, while Pete Hegseth was unsuccessfully defending himself and here, as Marco Rubio is addressing him directly.

And they all pretend that this is normal. And as these clips go out via C-Span, CNN, Fox News, you name it, then it becomes a conspiracy on the part of the media to make Trump look bad. Nothing wrong with Trump sleeping through a cabinet meeting, you see, the only bad thing is that people know about it from their local newscast. Meanwhile, things are not looking great for Pete Hegseth. Top Republicans are scrutinizing him and he can’t claim that’s the fault of the media.

Republicans have been practically mute as Hegseth’s careless, monthslong killing spree has claimed the lives of at least 83 people. But GOP-led panels in the House and Senate are dialing up their scrutiny of the Pentagon, demanding a full account of the September boat strikes.

The Republican chairmen of the Senate and House Armed Services committees are both demanding audio and video of the incident. “We’re going to conduct oversight, and we’re going to try to get to the facts,” vowed Senator Roger Wicker.

Senator Thom Tillis told CNN that he was still trying to understand whether Hegseth had ordered the second strike that day, killing a couple of survivors that clung to the wreckage left by the initial attack.

“Obviously, if it can be substantiated by facts, it’s a violation of both ethical and possibly legal requirements,” Tillis said. “If it is substantiated, whoever made that order needs to get the hell out of Washington.”

The North Carolina lawmaker was not the only conservative in Washington irate over the events. Senator Lindsey Graham said that he was still working out “the facts” but suggested that the attack could have run afoul of the law.

“It’s a long-held rule that survivors of the ship attack are no longer combatants, and an air crew member in a parachute is no longer a combatant. You’re out of the fight,” Graham told CNN. “I don’t know what the facts are, but that’s general law. We’ll see what the facts are.”

The facts are damning, Lindsey, and the law is clear. Good luck with this one. Who knows? Maybe Lindsey will be playing golf with Trump soon and whisper into his ear, like a little bird, that it’s time for Hegseth to go.

That’s one story to keep an eye out for. The other, ongoing story, is the fact that Trump can’t stay awake during his own meetings. That cannot be swept under the rug. There are too many clips of him publicly doing this. Maybe get Trump to bed by 9:30 a.m. like Dubya used to do? And Dubya was considerably younger.
