Hours before Republican Convention goers roll out of their beds and descend like swarms of locust on the city’s continental breakfast buffets, protest organizers will be out on the streets readying thousands of marchers who will exercise their hard won right to close confront Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, the site of the RNC Convention. An agreement hammered out between the city and the protesters will allow the march to approach within 1 block of the convention center, close enough that they will be seen and heard by the MAGA masses streaming into the arena…

ABC17 News

“MILWAUKEE (WDJT) — Organizers of a protest group that long vowed to march in close proximity to next week’s Republican National Convention announced Friday they reached a deal with the city allowing them to demonstrate one block away from Fiserv Forum.

Leaders of the ‘Coalition to March on the RNC’ held a press conference Friday afternoon. Omar Flores, the group’s spokesperson, said hours earlier, the coalition had reached a “handshake agreement” with Milwaukee police, allowing the group to proceed with a planned march Monday morning that will stop at the intersection of W. Highland Ave. and N. Martin Luther King Dr., which is one block east of the Deer District and immediately outside one of the screening areas convention goers will pass through on their way into the RNC.

“For once, we’re not here today to condemn a decision made by the city,” Flores said. “We are proud that, today, the city is working with us, and we were able to run our march the way that we want to.”

It is good that the protesters will be allowed close enough to the hall that conventioneers and news organizations covering the event will have to take note of them.

But some business owners in the city want to make sure their feelings about the RNC are noted also.

Great job of trolling by those two business owners, hope there are more like them out there!

And here’s wishing the protesters well, have a peaceful march and be careful of the heat… both kinds.

  1. In a variation of a then well-known ad slogan for a beer brand many decades ago:

“The MAGA Mockery that made Milwaukee famous.”

  2. Milwaukee-when you mock the magats do so loudly and with words of few syllables. The last one because these are people incapable of cogent thought just like their turd emperor Von Shitzinpants.

When the criminal von shitzi gets on stage to spew his demented ravings on the stage, if you do not show up on any other day or night this week, show up the last night of the klan rally to drown out what he is saying-use your voices and passion to drown him out even inside that convention center. For this one, you are soldiers protecting our constitution with your voices. Be peaceful but use your voices. Prove to these magats that violence will only beget violence and speech CAN be used for good. We need this in the coming days more than we ever have before.

  3. Because of the shooting, Penzey’s has taken down their sign for now. Their reasoning:

Sadness. Violence is not the answer. We do have a democracy, a planet, and fifty years of women’s rights to save. But for today can we all just take a day off and simply feel empathy for all Americans including Trump voters? You can argue the reasons and the healthiness of it all, but I think we all can agree Trump voters truly love Donald Trump.

Yesterday they all saw the man they love go through something no one should ever have to go through. And I’m sure for at least a moment they feared the worst. They saw the shooting, they saw the blood coming from his head. And his people said he was fine and just being taken off for observation, but that’s what they always say. I’m sure that was not a good moment for them.

On the Facebook post about the fake electors poster in the window of our downtown Milwaukee store across from the Convention security entrance a commenter posted: “Drove past this evening. Sign was down. How come?” The answer is: Because we took it down.

The sign will be back in some form when the time is right. But what was both clever and needed yesterday morning, by evening had become something different. For a time yesterday Republican voters’ hearts broke. Clever in the face of that just felt cruel. Cruel is not who we want to be.

Tomorrow they have a Convention where it will be their job to build the momentum and excitement to get their man elected come November. Tomorrow it will be our job to do our best to make sure that doesn’t happen. But that’s tomorrow. Today we have a day to simply feel empathy for fellow Americans who had a really-really bad day yesterday.

Love to the family and friends of the bystander killed and to all those in the crowd who were hurt. Same too to whoever had the job to eliminate the threat of the shooter. We ask so much of law enforcement. Today is a really hard day for many. Please love them all.

Kindness matters to this company. It’s one reason why I’m such a fan, besides loving their spices (Sunny Paris and Justice being two of my current favorites). While at the time that Bill wrote those words most everyone was believing it was a real attack, a lot of us have come to see it for what it is, a cynical exploitation of the maga world for sympathy, votes and money. Penzey’s has been consistently anti-tRump (and have taken financial hits for it) and I wholeheartedly recommend supporting them.

  4. And sadly magats would be celebrating if anything happened to President Biden. The two parties couldn’t be more different if they tried.

    • Hell, just compare “our” reaction to Trump’s being shot with how “they” reacted to the near-fatal attack on Paul Pelosi.

But until the FBI or local law enforcement shows us the bullet (or any bullet) that supposedly “threatened” Trump, I’m not going to believe this was anything more than some MAGA conspiracy directed at bolstering Trump’s election hopes.

Hell, President Biden is now on record as “regretting” his “bullseye” comment yet there’s not been a single word from Trump or any of the other MAGAts that they’re going to cool THEIR violent-laden rhetoric.

  5. I doubt the city will let them march after the “assassination” attempt. At least not within one block. But I hope they do and that hundreds and thousands march and get the attention of the press. Hell, I’d love to see a hundred thousand but that won’t happen. Just to show the magats and orange menace that he has no support there.
