There would be fewer columns on ICE Barbie if she weren’t such an idiot. There will be restraint after this “episode”. She just gives us all these opportunities to point out, in *so* many different ways, that she does not belong in politics, let alone Trump’s cabinet. But if you don’t look too closely at her, she does well enough to look good on screen. Still pissed about the disappearance during the Texas floods that needed FEMA help, and *ahem* it’s time to get back to tonight’s adventure. With thanks to Raw Story:

A federal judge in California on Wednesday found the Trump administration unlawfully terminated temporary protections for more than 60,000 nationals from Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua. In a scathing 52-page order, Northern District of California Judge Trina Thompson found that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem did not go through the proper federal procedures to end the designations for Temporary Protected Status for those three nations. Thompson found that Noem did not sufficiently review country conditions or provide a minimum six-month winding-down period leading to the end of temporary legal status, a practice that the agency has followed for decades.

Yowza! That’s one hell of a slap, and we’re just getting started. Kristi *broke the law*!! It’s interesting that lately, *ahem* some people don’t bother to check the law first and figure they’ll get to the details after taking action. We’ve learned a lot about the outer edges of the law with people who are idiots (also read: Jeanine Pirro). There is no protection for someone in Trump’s cabinet when they screw up. You know that Trump will back away from any legal issue as fast as possible, right? He has some cases where he still hasn’t paid and hopes they just go away as if they hadn’t happened. But when one of his people breaks the law? It’s all on them. Not him. Moving along now:

A country receives a TPS designation if it meets certain conditions, such as a major natural disaster, violence, or some other instability that makes a country too dangerous for its citizens’ return. The judge also denied the Department of Justice’s motion to dismiss the case. “Our laws should not favor the loud and powerful simply because of their positions. Yet, for too long, our laws have overlooked the quiet truths—truths carried in the margins, truths lived but never spoken aloud,” Thompson said.

THANK you very much, your honor! Should not favor the loud and powerful, well said! Bluff, bluster, and obfuscation don’t work very well in court. Neither does willful ignorance. It’s damn good to know that there are judges out there who will stand up to Trump and his administration. It gives us some hope. You’re probably also tired of hearing about Judge Boasberg and everything he’s done, but it behooves us to remember that the contempt of court is under review. Plus, Judge Dugan is still having to go to court for some ICE nonsense (about obstruction, if I remember correctly, but it’s 1 in the morning….).

“It is the duty of every public servant entrusted with shaping a more just society to bring those truths into the open, to translate lived experience into written protection. It means hearing the faintest whisper of injustice and refusing to let it fade. It means honoring the people who call this country home but have never been invited to speak in it. It means finally ensuring that the law speaks for them,” she continued.

Separately, another judge in Boston, Massachusetts, temporarily halted the TPS termination for more than 200 nationals from South Sudan on Tuesday, also finding a move by Noem is likely unlawful. TPS for South Sudan is set to expire Jan. 6. This year, the Trump administration has aggressively moved to revoke the legal status of TPS recipients and those with some other form of humanitarian legal status. So far, about 1 million immigrants under TPS, along with another half a million, have lost their status.

Apparently, this bullshizzle goes for anyone in our country. ICE is terrorizing immigrants, and they don’t care who gets picked up in their sweeps, as long as the person isn’t white. TPS is being revoked, and overall, people are being deported to some country or other, whether or not they’ve actually ever been there. There are times when some of us feel guilty about being white and, therefore, safe. Kristi is just following Trump’s playbook. But she’s still an idiot and is still getting slapped. At least we have some entertainment for a couple of days….

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money, especially around the holidays. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. The actions of this misadministration are causing me to be embarrassed about being white! What I am dying to ask a MAGA is why, if DHS is following the law, are people being arrested at their court appearances?! They are trying to do it the right, legal way!
Now that I got that out of my system, end of rant.

    • Oh, yes indeedy, I’m embarrassed to be white – until they start coming after us and THEN I will fight back twice as hard for both me and my husband and those who are ridiculously pursued for the color of their skin. We haven’t seen ICE up here … yet. A friend of mine in a relatively small town in Minnesota had ICE show up twice. They were … harassed, shall we say. One of them had a couple people stuck up on the roof of a house they were building when the wind chill was -20. Fckers. All of us protect those who are our own, including in our apartment building, whether we know them or not. Actually, come to think of it, we only know the people in half of our building now 🙁
