Well folks, it’s official:

NBC on MSN

“Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has defeated Republican Kari Lake in Arizona’s race for governor, NBC News projected Monday.

Hobbs’ victory is key for Democrats in a presidential battleground and a rebuke to a prominent election denier — though the closeness of the contest left the result up in the air for nearly a week.

A record number of early ballots were dropped off on Election Day in Maricopa County, officials said, which had to be processed in a more time-intensive manner that includes signature verification. Maricopa County, the state’s most populous, said Sunday that it estimated that its count was 94 percent complete after receiving a historic 290,000 of those early ballots on Election Day.”

Kari Lake, and many other Republicans, thought this election would hinge on inflation and crime.

NBC’s polling found something different:

“Hobbs and her allies centered the campaign on abortion rights, putting Republican-endorsed restrictions at the forefront of their message. But they also sought to contrast their plans on inflation and immigration with Lake, a political newcomer.

NBC News exit polling bore out Hobbs’ theory of the case, with 58% of Arizona voters feeling either dissatisfied or angry about the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe V. Wade and 80% of those voters casting ballots for Hobbs.”

Guess you cannot manufacture issues and expect to win, Kari.

Maybe next time listen to all the people instead of a few MAGA loons…

Hey! Pass that this way!

  1. I’m reeeeeallly appreciating the schadenfreude. It’s nicely cancelling out the effect of Floriduh’s illegal gerrymandering, and the corrupt Dems losing seats in New York.

  2. Between this, total Dem takeover of Michigan and the Nevada legislature gaining a supermajority that will neuter the newly-elected GOP governor, the Republicans are running out of good news. If we can JUST clench the House, it’ll make their agony complete.

      • I bought a Fifth before the 2020 election. I figured I’d either want to celebrate huge, or get wasted to drown my agony. Fortunately I got to throw back a few shots (ok, maybe more than that!) in celebration. I seldom drink anymore. Haven’t for a lot of years except on the Marine Corps Birthday but Trump’s “win” in 2016 killed that. I didn’t have the heart anymore. Not in a country where so many tens of millions of voters would cast their ballots for someone so unfit. So a shot now and then, and the bottle is only half gone. But will get a little lighter. And IF we pull the proverbial “inside straight for a Royal Flush” and keep the House, THEN I’ll drain the rest of that bottle. Or a whole bunch of it at least!
