Petey Boy is in trouble.  He made a pretty major change to the Pentagon policy, and Trump didn’t know about it. Trump got asked about it. He wasn’t able to answer. I’ll bet Hegseth gets nailed to the wall away from public view, if he hasn’t already. He needs to remember that Trump gave him the position he holds as Secretary of Defense. Of course, Trump will *never* fire him (or any of the other idiots in his cabinet) because to do so would be admitting he made a mistake.

That’s not going to happen. He *should* fire all of them and get people who have real knowledge and real talent. If he had done so from the beginning, there’s a decent chance we would have kept our reputation. Maybe not as clean as we would like, but not nearly as badly. Let’s not get into Elon and DOGE because of ranting for hours. Let’s see how we got here. From Raw Story:

Media correspondent and analyst Brian Stelter argued that President Donald Trump was most likely unaware of a new controversial policy announced by his own Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after the president uttered contradictory remarks on Sunday. On Friday, the Pentagon announced that journalists would be required to sign a pledge not to obtain or report on any information not officially disseminated by the Pentagon, lest they lose their credentials. On Sunday, however, when asked whether he thought the Pentagon should be able to decide “what reporters can report on,” Trump said, “no, I don’t think so.”

Yikes! That’s bad news for Pete. Don’t piss off the boss, dude. Especially not regarding the press. Trump *loves* talking to the press, unless they catch him when he’s grumpy and then his language gets rather … earthy, shall we say. Hegseth has appeared in front of the press occasionally, so he should know better. It’s a bad idea to make the boss angry with you.

The only explanation for Trump’s contradictory remarks, Stelter argued, would be that the president was clueless as to his own DOD’s policy. “My best guess is that President Trump didn’t know about this new Pentagon plan because that answer makes him sound like he’s on a very different page from his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, [who] all year long has been trying to limit independent news coverage of the Pentagon, of the U.S. military,” Stelter said, speaking on CNN Monday. Journalists have pushed back against the policy, many of whom have argued it violates the core tenets of the First Amendment and would effectively cripple the ability of Pentagon reporters to do their job.

What the big deal is with Hegseth is unknown; He was outed about his Signal major mistakes through a different source, if I remember, and not the Pentagon press. The bombers heading overseas did not either. He can’t dictate disseminated information to everyone. It just doesn’t work that way. The fact that he is trying to do this with the Pentagon press is telling. What is he trying to hide? Everything? Anything coming from the Pentagon is valuable news. He’s already restricted the area where the journalists can go. He got some pretty bad press for that one. This showed again that he is not qualified for the job in any shape, form, or fashion. To close:

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, a former Pentagon reporter himself, said that the matter was “very close to me,” and that the policy was antithetical to journalism itself. “I spent several years as a Pentagon correspondent during the first Gulf War, and it’s hard for me to believe that Pentagon reporters would lose their credentials, lose their opportunity to report from the Pentagon even if they reported some innocuous statement that hadn’t been formally announced by the Pentagon,” Blitzer said. “Forget about classified information, this is unclassified information.”

What *is* Pete up to there is a good question. There should be some sort of reason for this. It probably doesn’t make any sense. I’m hoping someone finds out. That is, assuming it won’t piss off the boss again. Pete had better walk softly for a while. He won’t like being yelled at another time. Tiptoeing would be even better. Go ahead and put on the façade. This one is going to burn for some time.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
