This is beautiful. Trump has done it to himself. Again, as you can see. He sues anyone and everyone for some bogus reason, it gets thrown out, so he tries someone else. He had AGs and lawyers, any one of whom could have given him legal information. He could at least ask their advice first. But he won’t. He never has and never will. From The New Republic via AlterNet:
An appeals court upheld a lower court’s decision to dismiss President Donald Trump’s years-old $475 million defamation lawsuit against CNN, deeming it “unpersuasive” and “meritless,” reports The New Republic. Trump sued the cable news network in 2022 for using the term “the Big Lie” in its coverage of “Trump’s debunked claims of sweeping election fraud that supposedly robbed him of a second term in the White House in 2020,” The New Republic writes. “Trump has not adequately alleged the falsity of CNN’s statements. Therefore, he has failed to state a defamation claim,” wrote 11th Circuit Court of Appeals Judges Adalberto Jordan, Kevin Newsom, and Elizabeth L. Branch in an eight-page filing.
Boom shakalaka boom. He didn’t BS well enough to prove his allegations. Now, you kinda have to be surprised at that one. He is the master of bloviating, blustering, misdirection, brazen, tap-dancing lies. He says nothing, and it sounds like something. One problem with that. He promised everything and gave people nothing. The appeals court saw right through him. Too bad, so sad (NOT).
“Trump’s other arguments are likewise meritless,” the judges wrote. Trump also accused CNN of using “the Big Lie” to create a “false and incendiary association” between him and “Adolf Hitler, who originally coined the term in Mein Kampf,” The New Republic explains, “But the lower court ruled that “bad rhetoric is not defamation when it does not include false statements of fact.” The panel of appeals court judges ruled that Trump’s argument was “unpersuasive,” because the term “Big Lie” did not “constitute a statement of fact,” they report. “This assumption is untenable,” the judges wrote.
Ahahahaha. They saw *right* through him. Was he present for this? We can’t be sure because there has been no apparent sign of a Truth Social rant. Possibly that will come later. The judges might have done some research into the statements made by both to determine what the facts were in the case. It really was apt for the times after the election, followed by the insurrection, followed by more bonkers lawsuits. We remember “The Big Lie” from this asshole. And it was. Here’s a little more for you, and then we’ll close.
This is the latest in a series of failed lawsuits Trump has issued against media companies reporting on his lies, including a $15 billion defamation suit against The New York Times that was dismissed in September. “We have held that, by using ‘Big Lie’ to describe Trump, CNN was not publishing a false statement of fact. Therefore, whether CNN used ‘Big Lie’ one time or many is irrelevant to the question of falsity,” the judges said.
WHAM bada DAMN. We knew that Joe Biden won the election fair and square. It was a pretty overwhelming victory. But Trump took it as a personal insult, so he was trying anything and everything to get what he considered to be *his* job and *his* place back. Now, after all that former President Joe Biden did to bring the country back on its feet, Trump and his enablers have wrecked it in less than a year. Actually, they’ve more than wrecked it. We have lost our position in the world because we have a petty, demented child in the White House, and we did not put him there! What else can he destroy? No, wait, don’t answer that.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

“What else can he destroy? No, wait, don’t answer that.”
Oh, don’t worry, we’ll find out soon enough.
There’s still plenty left to wreck.
“He says nothing, and it sounds like something.”
One place that usually doesn’t work is Federal Court.
