Of all people, Karl Rove is splitting from his party. He’s a GOP strategist. He’s known for that. And he just told the GOP to get gone. He’s rightfully angry about something, and from what he said in the WSJ op-ed (link in below quotes from RS, subscription required), he has a damn good reason. It’s about a candidate who never should have become the Republican choice. This is above the Ken Paxton level of slime.
Rove started with this candidate and then went on to tell off the GOP in general. This had to have been unexpected since, as far as we know, he’s always been dedicated to the GOP. He’s considered the father of the modern Texas GOP, but he is going across the aisle and voting for the opposing Democratic challenger.
Let’s go ahead with a couple of quotes, with gratitude to Raw Story:
Veteran GOP strategist Karl Rove went into more detail about his decision to split with his party in the upcoming elections with a blistering op-ed. Earlier this week, the Texas Tribune reported that Rove, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and longtime Texas GOP political consultant, said he will vote for Houston Democrat Jon Rosenthal to serve on the Texas Railroad Commission.
Rove announced his split during a members-only lunch event at the Headliners Club in Austin, where he explained that he made his decision after Republican Bo French posted racist comments about South Asian students at the University of Texas. However, in a Wednesday Wall Street Journal op-ed, Rove tore into the GOP, saying it wasn’t just French that turned him off from his own party.
Isn’t that interesting? Rove is telling the GOP Oh, hell no. ROVE is saying the GOP sucks, only with better words. We knew that at the beginning of Trump’s lame duck term, when he was going after “woke”, threatening schools and law firms. They should not have given in. Harvard didn’t. They fought back. But that was just the beginning of the GOP’s slide into hell. (We won’t get into Fetterman.) Trump got worse and worse. Being the party in the minority meant there was very little we could do. But that will change at midterms.
Right now it’s hurry up and wait. Surely the Democrats in Congress are getting together and planning. We can hope so. Our current minority leaders need to get this going. It’s no good waiting to see if we flip Congress. That will lose time. Rove saying he will vote for a Democrat, even if it’s not a rep or a senator, still shows how badly the GOP is doing. It’s difficult to look at all the polls that say Republicans will win their races. We have to think about what we can do.
We need to think about how to block Trump’s shizzle. He’s going to try to steal the election to keep his toadies in Congress so he’ll have no opposition. Well, no opposition from the Democrats, as, again, we would be the minority party, because Republicans currently control everything except SCOTUS, which is rigged like a carnival game. That’s controlled by Trump and will continue to be that way until he’s out of his lame duck term. But we are limited as the minority party, because Republicans have more people who can overrule us.
And we can overcome this. With Rove voting Democrat, it may ripple outwards to other people who have been looking at a race to vote Democrat, too. It’s going to be interesting in the time we have left before midterms. The concern right now is about ICE or the police or the Guard being sent to polling places to frighten people away from voting. Go through them anyhow. Don’t let threats hang over your head.
We need to hammer that into people’s heads by whatever means possible. We need to be visible in our races and try to avoid attacking our opponents wherever possible. Work with the positive qualities. Show that we are a better choice. Attack ads say something about the person saying them.
This went hard left from discussing Rove. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. He’s the match that will light the fire that will burn the GOP down. His change will affect so many people and will be enormously helpful. If only he would go after Paxton. That would be something interesting, to say the least. But Rove tore into the GOP with his op-ed, so we’ll see what happens. It’s certainly enough for us to use. Come on, Democrats. Let’s do this.

The plan is in for November. House Speaker Johnson and Senate leader Thune will simply delay or skip indefinitely swearing the new Congressmembers in…..just like Johnson did to the newly elected Rep from Arizona to take the scheme for a test drive, keeping power all the while. No one did anything to stop him.
…….and who’s to stop them??? The in the pocket boot lickers at the DOJ?, Keystone Kash and his band of Merry Men?, the bought and paid for traitors on the SCOTUS?, the corrupted, depleated and manipulated military leadership?, the corrupted Congress?
Why else would they continue dancing around, showing their asses at every opportunity, defying law and the written Constitution, ignoring the will of the people and the polls be damned…..the fix is in.
