It literally took an act of Congress to get down to the basic truth of what happened on July 13, a mere eleven days ago in Butler, Pennsylvania, when something happened which caused Donald Trump’s ear to be bloody. Unbelieveable that this level of ambiguity should be going on for this long with respect to something as grave as an attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, but that is what we have seen with our own eyes right here in the USA. Thank God that it now appears that some form of real investigation is going on and not just everybody feeding into Trump’s version of the facts, which will always be self-serving and inaccurate because that’s his very nature, inveterate and compulsive liar that he is.

It has been a total embarrassment how this has been handled. Josh Marshall was one of the few independent journos who spoke up about this. Heather Cox Richardson quoted him and put in her own two cents, I have quoted them both here. There is almost zero press coverage of the actual facts of this case, that four Butler, Pennsylvania cops, who stood within feet of Trump, got slightly injured by flying debris — ergo Trump himself probably was slightly injured by flying debris.

This has been totally unnerving to me, because my undergraduate degree is in journalism and media. Accuracy in journalism is the highest of journalistic standards — and it has been utterly lacking in this story. Everybody has simply chosen to take Trump’s word for the matter and taking the word of a renowned liar in something as serious as an assassination attempt is just plain wrong.

I’ve seriously felt like I’ve been living in some alternate reality since July 13. Why hasn’t this fact gotten clarified, I have asked over and over again? Truth be known, I was thrilled when Heather Cox Richardson and Josh Marshall started discussing it. At least I wasn’t here all by myself wondering what the assignment editors at the big media outlets could possibly be thinking. I was afraid to keep mentioning the obvious, that an actual bullet from that caliber of a gun doing so little damage was basically impossible. Those of us who didn’t buy into Trump’s version were labeled “conspiracy theorists” immediately on social media.

Now the matter has been mentioned in Congress. The Director of the Federal Bureau Of Investigation has mentioned it, so now, finally, we’re going to get the truth. I guess eleven days after the fact is better than not at all, right? Better late than never, the adage tells us.

Let us start with this:

  1. The medical report from Butler Memorial Hospital;
  2. The medical reports of the four motorcycle cops who were slightly injured by debris, while they stood a few feet away from Trump;
  3. A report on what, if any, debris, bullets, shrapnel, whatever was swept from the scene of the shooting;
  4. Any and all follow up reports from Trump’s physicians. I would particularly love to know why he wore no bandage on the plane home that night but a few days later he had to wear a bandage on his ear so as to be conspicuous at the Republican National Convention — not to mention sparking memes and other people to wear bandages.
  5. Reports and photos of the actual scene of the crime, meaning where Trump stood, and what objects were or may have been struck by bullets, so as to cause shrapnel in the first place.

This should have been done eleven days ago when this incident occurred. But as stated, I’m elated that it’s happening at all. Also, to be realistic, the time lapse may be problematic. We don’t know what law enforcement ordered done or not done. Let’s hope that everybody was going according to the book. Take heart, however, the medical reports in this matter are key. Those we can obtain — unless Trump had the ER doctors sign NDAs, which would not surprise me in the least bit.

  1. Someone needs to pull von shitzinpants aside and tell him that if a dem worried about his threat to democracy, a real threat btw, had decided to save democracy, von shitzi’d be pushing up the daily rather than trying to make kotex a fashion statement.

    I still question whether the lying p.o.s. was hit by anything at all. I believe this was a staged act for sure but I have a hard time swallowing von shitzi allowing anyone to shoot even a b.b. gun anywhere close to him.

    • I believe he was struck by the same “debris” that caused “slight injuries” to the four motorcycle cops. Now whether that’s wood, coming off the podium or glass or plastic or metal flying off the teleprompter, I don’t pretend to know. But I would look at the reports of the four cops and see what struck them — if that’s possible to ascertain — and then extrapolate that probably the same thing struck Trump.

      I think Trump should walk back his “struck by a bullet” and “took a bullet for democracy.” He may have taken a shard of wood or plastic for democracy.

    • I beg to differ, Walter. A shooter was there. One bystander was killed, two injured. And four cops were slightly injured by debris. The logical thing here is that Trump was also injured by flying debris.

  2. I haven’t even seen a decent re-creation of what happened, including the number of shots and exactly where they hit – and where the shot victims were sitting.

    Given the extensive video coverage from all those phones, it would seem a no brainer.

    But then Trump has always preferred convenient lies to uncomfortable truths.

    • All anybody wants to see here are the facts. When Reagan got shot (I think by a .22, but don’t quote me) we knew everything. We knew the point of entry, where the bullet lodged, what happened to get it out, etc. That’s all that is needed here. But Baby Trump doesn’t wanna say he was hit by debris, that’s just not manly enough, he wants to say he “took a bullet for democracy,” when what really happened is something stung his ear and he reacted to it. Piece of plastic? Glass? Wood? Metal? If it had been a bullet grazing him, I’m pretty sure it would have whipped his head around and that did not take place. We’ve all seen the video.

    • Is that so? I don’t have the technical knowledge to zoom in, but plastic or whatever debris hit the four cops makes more sense than a bullet from an assault rifle.

  3. I’ve talked about this before and this seems like a good place to bring it up again. IF a shot was fired at Trump it was the only one aimed (badly) at him. All the other people hit, the guy who was killed and a couple of others that sustained truly serious bullet wounds were up towards the back of the stands. I’m still waiting on a good diagram of where each of the other victims was during the five to six seconds of shooting. Even without that it’s clear the other victims were on a different vector (line) between the shooter and Trump. Maybe the shooter wanted to pop off a round near Trump so he’d get more attention.

    But consider this: If the actual victims of serious gunshot wounds were clumped fairly close together it raises a whole different take on things. Trump might not have been his “real” target. Perhaps someone else in the crowd was. Someone he knew would be there and had juice to get a seat in those grandstands. Maybe one of the people who was shot or maybe someone else – he wasn’t much of a shot it seems. But the FBI and LE should be looking hard at the lives/backgrounds of not just the shooting victims but others up in that part of the grandstand. For links between them and the shooter.

    If you think Trump is freaking (and no doubt he is) about Wray saying he might have been hit by debris/shrapnel and ruining his ‘I shed my blood for you’ bullshit imagine his rage if it were to be established he wasn’t who the shooter really wanted to kill? That he was an afterthought meant to give the shooter more noteriety?

    I know there’s one problem with this theory. I’ve seen a bit of reporting that the shooter researched other venues and other potential politicians including one or two Democrats. Then again, given the lax attitude of the security around the perch he’d chosen to shoot from he might have thought he could slip away. On that we’ll likely never know. What I DO know is that it takes time (often lots of it) and painstaking effort to run all this down.

    Cheatle tried to do a Comey and cover for her agents/agency. It turned out badly for her as we saw. She surely had answers for some of the questions and refused to give them. The agents (Trump’s detail) she refused to throw under the bus are, since they are ALL Trump loyalists of course don’t appreciate it one bit. There might be an article in that for me to write tomorrow. They will I’m betting prove they aren’t worthy of the loyalty she showed them and will have plenty of time to concoct a narrative about how THEY got thrown under the bus. When it was their own lax attitude that allowed the Butler shooting to happen.

    That picture that was blown up loses something as photos usually do when blown up that much. However compare it with the bandage the doctors at the hospital discharged Trump with (it’s the cover pic of an article I posted a day or two ago) and it’s clearly visible as he got off his plane back in Bedminster. It was an inch square. Maybe just a tad larger but consistent with what you’d expect from a wound as shown in the title pic of this article. It sure was hell wasn’t the EAR DIAPER Ronny Jackson slapped on, and which Trump started sporting at the RNC.

    I wonder if the odds makers in Vegas have a line going on when Trump will stop wearing that ridiculous thing? Maybe weeks, during which it will be leaked that Trump underwent some plastic surgery, a graft or something by ‘the best, most incredible plastic surgeon ever – so good that by the time he was done no trace of his bigly wound can be seen.’ That would give him an excuse to keep sporting that ridiculous EAR DIAPER into the fall, and explain why when he stops wearing it photos will show little if any damage to his ear!

  4. The troubled young man wanted to make a name for himself with a mass shooting. Not an assassination of Trump. He never aimed at Trump. If he was planning to shoot Trump that would have been his FIRST shot!! There was never an assassination attempt!!.

    • I don’t know if that’s the case. I read a story today that the shooter Googled “distance of Lee Harvey Oswald from Kennedy,” so that would seem to indicate that Trump was his target.

    • It would be SO NICE just to have the freaking facts. The event was ominous, of that there is no question. There is a dead person, and two others who were in critical condition the day of the shooting. So that’s no laughing matter. BUT it is wrong for Trump to exaggerate what happened and I would like to know conclusively if he was hit by a bullet or shrapnel. That is important here.

  5. Under HIPAA the ER cannot release any information on the wound without permission. The doctor explained this briefly to the press. Ronnie Jackson,the White House Candyman and resident drunk and sexual.harasser, then took over, and is a known DJT sycophant whose current job is in Congress, took over.
    Good luck.getting accurate info. The hospital.cannot release his record without express permission, which we know Donnie Donuts will never give. Unless one of the cops anonymously leaks it, forget about it ever seeing the light of day. Even Christopher Wray cannot do it.
