The Epstein scandal has not gone away nor will it. That’s the awful truth that Donald Trump has had to cope with in the past several weeks. And what has he done with that realization? Some stupid things, like allowing Pam Bondi to attempt a ridiculous authoritarian investigation of Barack Obama. That only shows how desperate he is to divert attention away from his Epstein issues and make an even more desperate attempt at a both siders coup. “What David Cay Johnston is saying here is absolutely borne out in victim witness testimony,” intones journalist Mark Thompson in the clip you’re about to see. The entire thing is worth listening to but fast forward to 15:20 where they get into their Epstein discussion, if you want to focus on only that.

The extortion that went on is disgusting. Plus the idea that when “you’re eighteen you’re out,” is deeply disturbing. Talk about being a piece of meat. And I don’t doubt that it took place. We heard Trump’s crack, from his own mouth, “I’ll be dating her in ten years,” when looking at a 10-year-old. How many normal guys look at a 10-year-old and think about dating her at all?

I also found two other comments of Johnston’s alarming:

  1. If he did indeed offer the goods that he had on Trump to some media outlet(s) and they refused him — and I don’t doubt for a minute that he’s telling the truth — then that says everything you need to know about what journalism in this country has become. Gone are the days of Ben Bradlee or Jimmy Breslin. Gone is the era when Watergate and the Pentagon Papers scandals were stories broken in the Washington Post. The Washington Post is now the Bezos Bugle. It’s a mere kazoo compared to the clarion it used to be.
  2. Johnston’s comment about Trump setting the moral tone for this country is a thought which is beyond description. Yes, it certainly used to be that the morality of the sitting president was important. And maybe not everybody cut the most impressive figure in terms of absolute virtue. JFK was a known philanderer. Maybe that would have all come out during a second term, who knows? Likewise Bill Clinton exercised bad judgement. But between adultery and repeated instances of child rape, there is no comparison. Trump is in a league of his own. And the idea that that kind of morality is now being normalized is beyond contemplation.

Pam Bondi can play all the distraction games that she wants to and maybe that’s exactly how things will go. Maybe the counter lawsuit by the Trump DOJ will become a standing institution all of its own as Trump tries to distract from the Epstein probe. Maybe we can depend upon monthly or even weekly law suits.

Or, maybe the FBI and DOJ will whitewash it all. After all, that was the plan. Trump winning was to keep him out of prison. He probably wasn’t even thinking how handy it would be to be in office if and when this Epstein obsession of MAGA’s wouldn’t go away. But he’s there now and that’s all he’s thinking about.

But even if the FBI and DOJ attempt a whitewash, there is too much evidence that came out at both Jeffrey Epstein’s trial and Ghislaine Maxwell’s. All that evidence and all those witnesses aren’t going to go away.

Trump is about to find out the hard truth of what Abraham Lincoln observed back in the day: “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, anything is possible. Without it, nothing can happen.” Public sentiment is overwhelmingly in favor of blowing the lid off of the Epstein cover up. And doing so will expose Trump.

  1. Your words and inclusion “… Trump is about to find out the hard truth of what Abraham Lincoln observed back in the day: “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, anything is possible. Without it, nothing can happen.”…” It will, if it gathers enough force, come to be the vector of civil war of public sentiment, that finally blows him up … ‘for whom the bell tolls …’ perhaps.

  2. The picture from above triggered the phrase, “fox in the underaged henhouse,” to form in my grey matter. I sure wish whatever is going to happen to him as a result of all this would hurry up and happen because he’s still tearing at the foundations of this country like a bull in a china shop. What I really want to see is him, all of his inner circle, and all of his enablers burnt to the ground over this. Let’s not forget his toadies over at SCOTUS and in Congress either! The rest of his crimes can be laid at his feet when his administration is in the post-mortem stage.

  3. The lead photo of lovely young girls surrounding an older man is, I presume, from Trump’s halcyon days of owning the Miss Teen USA pageant? Please tell me it’s not from a flight on the Lolita Express to his pal Jeffrey’s child-rape facility. Whatever it is, those young ones deserve better than a perverted misogynistic sociopath. With this image in mind, I’m wondering if the mythical KGB videos of Trump might feature children, rather than the sex workers usually cited.
