During the Orangeutan’s factually challenged “press conference” at Mar-A-Lardo today, during which he denigrated his election opponent Kamala Harris unbelievably as being somehow less intelligent than his own dumb self, and bragged, again unbelievably, that he had spoken before the biggest crowds of people ever assembled on Earth, he also lied and claimed that his Jan. 6th crowd of hooligans and street thugs – which the Jan. 6th committee estimated at 53,000 – outnumbered the massive crowd of hundreds of thousands that filled the National Mall for Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream speech in August of 1963.

As if:
USA Today

“Former President Donald Trump has social media comparing photos and looking in history books after he claimed the crowd during his Jan. 6, 2021, “Stop the Steal” Rally was bigger than the estimated crowd of 250,000 who attended Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington.

Trump made the comparison on Thursday during a news conference at his Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.

“I’ll tell you, it’s very hard to find a picture of that crowd. You see the picture— a small number of people, relatively, going to the Capitol, but you never see the picture of the crowd,” the Republican presidential nominee said of the 2021 crowd, some of whom preceded the storm on the U.S. Capitol. “The biggest crowd I’ve ever spoken to — I’ve spoken to the biggest crowds. Nobody’s spoken to crowds bigger than me.”

Trump then compared the crowd at his rally to the number of people in attendance for the revolutionary civil rights leader’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech on Aug. 28, 1963.

“If you look at Martin Luther King, when he did his speech, his great speech, and you look at ours, same real estate, same everything, the same number of people, if not, we had more,” Trump said. “They said he had a million people, but I had 25,000 people.”

Yeah, sure dotard, King actually had at least 5 times as many folks listening to his speech in those days before social media, and sans the cachet of actually being a sitting President. And none of his hundreds of thousands rioted or beat up cops.

But I guess you could say you both had a crowd.

Listening to Trump’s nonsense former CNN anchor Don Lemon had just one thing to say on Twitter –

“He really does have a dream, a fever dream.”

In my post earlier today I was persuaded by George Conway that the presser today would feature an angry Trump, full of bile and eager for retribution, and while there was some of that, mostly it was just a sad profile of an ignorant old man in rapid decline, even less inhibited than usual for by his lack of a grounding in anything resembling reality.

If he weren’t such a toxic jerk one could almost (almost I said) feel sorry for him.

  1. Sorry? Never!

His anti-vax and anti-mask nonsense got people killed. And are STILL doing so. Idiots are not vaccinating their kids against polio and measles. MAGAts and more.

    Deplorable…

    • Well, to be fair, the anti-vax movement was there long before Trump ever began “thinking” about getting into politics. He just helped to converge the anti-vaxxers with the MAGAt-brains.

Robert Kennedy, Jr, for instance, has been prominent in the anti-vaccine campaign for almost 20 years now (he published an article in 2005 that appeared in both “Rolling Stone” and “Salon” but the “Salon” editor quickly published corrections after being inundated with criticisms over Kennedy’s article).
